Apple Watch gets new collections and bands + Hermès collection


Apple Watch sport model gets two new colors: gold and rose gold while the rest of the Watch lineup gets new bands and watch color/band collections. Apple had announced these new updates to their smartwatch line up at the September 9 event in Bill Graham Civic Auditorium, San Francisco.

Apple Watch gets new band colors - Sport models receive new gold & rose gold variants

The new announced collections and combinations add more variety, specially with a gold and rose gold finish Apple Watch Sport, Apple has added the premium look to its cheapest model. This should attract more buyers to get the smartwatch. In the face of increasing competition from the likes of Samsung Gear S2 and Moto 360 2015 model, this is a good move by Apple.

Here is the complete list of new Watch collections and bands:

  • Apple Watch Sport
    • Gold case:
      • gold aluminum
      • rose gold aluminum
    • Bands with gold cases:
      • fluoroelastomer Sport Bands in lavender, antique white, stone and midnight blue
    • Apple Watch Sport silver aluminum with new orange or blue Sport Bands
  • Stainless Steel Apple Watch
    • New bands: two-toned Classic Buckle in black or saddle brown
    • Apple Watch space black stainless steel case with a black Sport Band
  • Apple Watch Edition
    • New 18-karat rose gold case with a midnight blue Classic Buckle

Apple Watch Hermès collection

The partnership with Hermès is a major announcement. Apple is all in to make the Watch a fashion icon and the Hermès collection is a smart move towards achieving that goal. The stainless steel Apple Watch gets the Hermès collection. Each one of them will have Hermès etched into the case and include exclusive customisable watch faces inspired by Clipper, Cape Cod and Espace Hermès watches.

WatchOS 2 GM, also released on the same day as the Apple event, contains new colors in the watch faces to match all the existing and new bands colors.
