After confirmation that Microsoft has cancelled their Courier Tablet Project, we have big news that HP has cancelled the idea for Windows 7 and Intel based hardware for HP slate as reported by Techcrunch. So, it means we will not see HP slate which was expected to be launched this summer.

Microsoft had made available Touch Pack for Windows 7 for OEMs only, sometime ago, so that they could bundle it with their multi-touch capable Windows 7 PCs. This meant that those who had older touch capable PCs such as HP TX2 ( Vista version) didn’t get Touch Pack to test out the capabilities and experiences of Windows 7 Touch. After looking at many 30 second teasers of HP slate people surely would have said “wow”. Well now Conecti.ca got some photos of HP slate and it really does not look like what we saw in the videos. I was expecting that after taking such a long time HP would launch something different from netbooks but these images show that HP slate is just like a netbook without a keyboard. Read more...

This is something that I always wanted. A qTweeter app for Windows which would let me update my Facebook and Twitter status without leaving the desktop. For those of you who don’t already know, qTweeter is a popular jailbreak app for iPhone/iPod Touch which runs in the background and lets you update status messages, post pictures, share webpages and the songs you’re listening to. Thanks to qStatus for Windows, all this functionality is available in a desktop app that looks good and works well too.

Just when the iPad has launched and over 30,000 people are using it, HP Slate comes back in the sight for 30 second to remind us that there is another Tablet PC ready to launch. Yes, you read it right. Over at DeviantArt, fediaFedia has created a Windows Phone 7 Series theme for Windows 7 which puts up live tiles on your desktop. The theme displays Rainmeter widgets as live tiles and show information such as temperature, date and time, CPU temp, notes, feeds, twitter timeline and much more. Read more...

Windows 7 is packed with a really cool feature called Windows XP mode. The whole aim of XP mode is to allow users to run apps from Windows XP which aren’t compatible with Windows 7, but sadly some people weren’t able to use Windows XP mode because it required hardware virtualization. Microsoft has taken down that barrier as well.
