Android Is Now The No.1 Smartphone OS In United States!

Back in May 2010, Android was in fourth place behind Blackberry, iOS and Windows Mobile in the overall smartphone market of United States. By the mid of 2010, it surpassed Windows Mobile while overtaking Apple’s iOS by the end of the year. Now, it has finally snatched the lead in the big US market, crossing Blackberry OS right at the start of 2011. Blackberryf now has a US market share of 30.4% which is approximately 1% less than that of Google’s Android at 31.2%, making Android the most-used smartphone OS in America.

Honeycomb’s Music App Supports Google Music Sync–Works on Rooted Android Phones

The guys over at XDA Developers have managed to extract the music app from Honeycomb and use it to sync music using the yet unannounced music syncing service by Google. Honeycomb hasn’t been released for handsets yet but hackers have managed to extract different parts of it to use in custom ROMs already.

Angry Birds For Android Reaches 30 Million Downloads Mark!

Almost anyone who has ever owned an Android or an iOS device, has played Angry Birds. One can imagine how big the Angry Birds empire has become. At the recent Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, Peter Vesterbacka from Rovio Mobile made it official that the free Android version of Angry Birds has been downloaded over 30 Million times which clearly shows how successful this multiplatform franchise is. He also said that 80% of users who’ve downloaded the game on their Android handsets get subsequent updates indicating their continued interest in the company’s most popular game.

How To Install Android 2.3.2 Gingerbread on Samsung Galaxy S [Guide]

After a long wait and tons of leaked Android 2.2 Froyo builds, Samsung Galaxy S users got a well deserved Gingerbread 2.3.2 build I9000XWJV1. This is a beta build but everything seems to work in it. There are some reported incompatibilities with different apps but that’s due to the fact that it’s a Gingerbread build and not Froyo. Other than that, it seems like a good build to try out. Google Shows New Widget for Weather Search Results for iPhone and Android Users

Google has started showing a new useful weather widget for weather related queries by users from Android and iOS devices. The widget shows the current weather conditions and includes a slider to see the changes in weather over the next 12 hours. Really cool, we must say!

Motorola Shows Off Google Honeycomb Tablet XOOM in New Promo Video

Motorola has unveiled a new promo that shows off the first Honeycomb tablet, XOOM. It will be a Google experience device free from any skins such as MotoBlur. Honeycomb will be a true tablet OS, unlike Samsung’s tablet effort with Froyo on Samsung Tab.

New Videos of Google’s Android 3.0 Honeycomb OS for Tablets Leaked

Ever since the launch of T-Mobile’s G1 phone, Android has been sold like hotcakes. The Operating System has pretty much ruled the OS market along with iOS and as we speak it continues to grow further on cellular networks. Android 3.0 Honeycomb is the latest Android update mainly for tablets but it is yet to be seen as its release draws nearer and nearer. Having said that, T-Mobile and its freshly announced G-Slate tablet designed by LG leaked several videos that show off Google’s new tablet OS.
