Head of Apple’s iAd, Andy Miller, Leaving for Highland Capital

Andy Miller sold Quattro Wireless, a company he co-founded, to Apple in 2010 for $275 million. Ever since then, Andy has been the head of the iAd division at Apple. But now Miller is leaving for Highland Capital, a Boston based firm that originally funded Quattro Wireless.

iOS Developer Charged $50K by the FTC for Collecting Children’s Personal Data

W3 Innovations, or Broken Thumbs Apps, settled for $50,000 on August 15th for a complaint from the FTC (Federal Trade Commission) that they were collecting children’s data. The company was collecting this data without the child or the parent’s knowledge. Broken Thumbs Apps sells many games including Zombie Duck Hunt, Emily’s Dress Up, and more.

3G MacBook Pro Prototype Auction Pulled from eBay, MagSafe Antenna Identified!

We showed you a prototype MacBook Pro on Monday, which had an antennae for 3G connections attached to it. It turns out that Apple has pulled the auction from eBay. For what reason? We are not sure, but the bids on the laptop did reach $70,000 before Apple pulled the plug.

Google’s Photovine App now available to all Users! [Download]

Back in July, Google released it’s own photo sharing application, Photovine. The Photovine service works by a user uploading a photo and creating a caption for the photo. Then others can see the photo and share it. Hence, creating a vine. The app was first released as a beta only service, but with last nights update, anyone can sign up for the new service.

[How To] Use Mac OSX Lion and Preview to digitally sign you PDF Documents

One great little feature that seems to have gone unnoticed is the ability to add a digital signature to PDFs. This functionality is built right into OSX Lion. This is done using Preview and your Mac’s built-in iSight camera to grab the image. You can then put your signature on PDFs that you need to send with your signature attached.

Apple iPhone 5 will be available for Pre-Order September 30th, Released on October 7th!

It would seem at this point that the iPhone 5 rumors would never end! Which can only mean that it is coming very soon! With the event rumored to be held on September 7th, we can hope that it doesn’t get pushed back for any reason. The iPhone 5 is now expected to be released on either October 7th or October 14th.

OSX Lion has got some amazing features, right out of the box. One great little feature discovered, which is similar to the new feature in iOS5 as well, Twitter integration. We’ve shown you how to get Google+ easily on your Mac, and now we are going to show you how you can easily tweet messages from anywhere inside of OSX Lion. The basics are just click and drag any text you want to tweet in Safari, Mail, etc. and OSX Lion grabs it and puts it into your tweet window using Twitter for Mac. Obviously, you will need Twitter for Mac installed to get this working.

Apple Releases First Lion Update, Mac OS X 10.7.1 [Direct Download Links]

It hasn’t been much time since Apple launched Lion, Mac OS X 10.7, to the general public. There have been cries of various issues, specifically the unreliability of WiFi connections in Lion, due to which Apple has hurriedly released the first update, 10.7.1 to the general public. Weirdly, this build wasn’t even released to developers before general availability today while OS X 10.7.2 was seeded to developers.
