iOS 5 is expected to be released in late September or early October of this year, and it comes with a ton of new features. Betas for the new iOS have come out almost every 2 weeks now and we can’t wait to see the final version. With all of these releases comes new features and new fixes to current bugs. However, one thing “fixed” in the most recent beta is that developers have a new way for track their users instead of your UDID, or Unique Device Identifier. How does it affect developers and you? Apple helps our eyes in iOS 5 making Toggle Buttons Circular!

If you haven’t had a chance to try iOS 5 Beta on your own, then you may not have noticed the new round button on the toggles. In all the iOS version prior, the toggle was rectangular. I prefer the new round toggle switch, and there is a reason Apple chose those buttons.

Apple pushed iOS 5 beta 6 to the developers community just now and if you haven’t already, you can download the firmware now for your iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPod touch 3G / 4G, iPad or iPad 2 either directly by logging in to your developer’s account or from here, in case you are not a developer. Also, if you are running a previous beta build of iOS 5 e.g beta 4 or beta 5, you can take the easy route and simply get beta 6 via OTA download option. This will be a lot quicker [144 Mb approx.] as compared to downloading the full firmware .IPSW which is almost 5 times larger in size.

Apple has just released the latest iOS 5 beta, version 6, for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. This release is accompanied by iTunes 10.5 beta 6 as well as Xcode 4.2 preview 6. Apple TV software beta 5 is also out as well as iWork for iOS beta 2.

iOS Developer Charged $50K by the FTC for Collecting Children’s Personal Data

W3 Innovations, or Broken Thumbs Apps, settled for $50,000 on August 15th for a complaint from the FTC (Federal Trade Commission) that they were collecting children’s data. The company was collecting this data without the child or the parent’s knowledge. Broken Thumbs Apps sells many games including Zombie Duck Hunt, Emily’s Dress Up, and more.

Google’s Photovine App now available to all Users! [Download]

Back in July, Google released it’s own photo sharing application, Photovine. The Photovine service works by a user uploading a photo and creating a caption for the photo. Then others can see the photo and share it. Hence, creating a vine. The app was first released as a beta only service, but with last nights update, anyone can sign up for the new service.
