iOS 5 has seen 2 beta releases so far, and if you are part of Apple’s Developer Program (like me) then you’ve been able to install this new version on your device. But what if you are not a developer and want to get your hands on the new version of iOS 5. Well, there is a way! Read more...

jailbreakMe, for those who do not know, was a webpage that iPhone users could go to in order to quickly jailbreak their new device. All it required was going to Safari, going to jailbreak.me and then waiting a minute in order for the phone to do it’s thing. After a reboot, you have an unlocked phone. Read more...

For those who haven’t yet had the privilege to test iOS 5 developers beta on their iPhone, iPod touch or iPad and then jailbreak it, UISettings is among the first jailbreak tweaks developed exclusively for iOS 5. It is integrated inside the Notification Center as a widget and does what SBSettings does for iOS 4 and below. However, with iOS 5 beta 2 update, the tweak seems to have stopped working and it just won’t show up after installation from Cydia. The developer appers to have ignored the fact and hasn’t yet released an update to fix the issue. However, it seems you can easily get it working on beta 2 nonetheless. Read more...

With Apple releasing iOS 5 into the hands of developers, all hackers and jailbreakers immediately started digging into the new iOS which brought tons of new features and enhancements. It rose the investable question, does the jailbreak work on iOS 5? and we found the answer to that pretty soon when MuscleNerd and company updated redsn0w to support iOS 5 jailbreak, though efforts of getting it untethered are currently under way. Unfortunately, a recent post from Dev-Team on their official blog has brought our attention to a rather troubling matter. Read more...

When Apple released the first beta for iOS 5 to developers, the wireless syncing feature was disabled by default. However with iOS 5 beta 2, it is now possible to sync your iPhone, iPod or iPad with iTunes over your Wi-Fi network connection, without requiring any USB cable. Before this, there have been jailbreak solutions which allowed iTunes syncing over Wi-Fi. But now, this is a part of iOS 5 and trust me, it works flawlessly! Read more...

Out of over 200 new features in iOS 5, iCloud is definitely my favorite. It is brilliantly integrate into iOS 5 while the cross platform syncing is simply amazing. If you’ve setup iCloud on your iOS 5 device, you’d realize what a pleasure it is upgrading to the latest firmware when restoring from iCloud backup as compared to the same old iTunes + USB cable + sync = restore process. When I updated my iPhone 4 today from iOS 5 beta 1 to iOS 5 beta 2 which was released just yesterday, it truly was an epic experience. Let me share how seamlessly it’s done. Read more...

In the first original Beta of iOS 5, there were no references to a new iPod Touch. Today however, developers have found a reference in the “com.app.fairplayd.N81.plist”. this means that Apple may be sticking to their refresh cycle and releasing a new iPod Touch come September. Read more...
