Yesterday, May 11, was the release of the iPad 2. On that day, thousands of people across the US lined up outside their retailer of choice in order to get their hands on the revamped Apple tablet. While thousands were lining up to get an iPad2, this man was working hard to mount an iPad2 into a brand new Ford F-150. Complete with Google Maps, Pandora, and Facetime, this F-150′s dash is decked out. While the use of Facetime on the road is likely a bad idea(and can only be done on wifi unless jailbroken), having Google Maps and Pandora built into the dash would be awesome. A new algorithm developed by Microsoft’s Innovation Labs has just been demonstrated on video showing how awesome it is, in detecting and recognizing faces during a live video feed. The technology can not only recognize a face, it can even track the faces and human expressions while they move around and also accept tags which help in automatic recognition of people the moment the appear on scene. The revolutionary accessory sold around 133,000 units per day for a total of 8 million units in its first 60 days on sale from 4 November 2010 to 3 January 2011. These sales figures outstrip both the iPhone and the iPad for the equivalent periods after launch. Read more...

Well, well, well. Steve Jobs wouldn’t be sitting easy after reading this. Safari on Mac OS X fell to hackers at Pwn2Own contest in just 5 seconds! That’s incredibly scary by any means but the good news is, the exploits used to do this aren’t going to be released in the wild for wrong usage. A close second was Internet Explorer 8 ( who uses that? Get IE9! ), which fell to three different vulnerabilities and custom exploits. Read more...

According to @chronic from the Chronic Dev Team, iOS 4.3 reveals that the new iPhone 5 will have the same A5 dual-core processor the new iPad 2 is sporting. References to a device with the model number N94AP were found deep inside the code, and supposedly this is the identifier for the new iPhone 5. A prying look into the kernel shows the model number S5L8940, which is the same label as the iPad 2′s A5 processor. Read more...

Hours after Microsoft’s revolutionary Kinect went on sale, open-source drivers were written to allow the use of the Kinect on Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux. Since then, many Kinect "hacks" have been released, which have brought about many cool uses for the Kinect that it was never intended for. In fact, Microsoft has been excited about the Kinect hacks, and is bringing the Kinect to Windows. We’ve shown you a cool puppet trick using the Kinect, and a combination of the Kinect and iPad. Here are a few videos of the Kinect being used to control robotic arms: Read more...

Microsoft has posted new job openings for hardware engineers ranging from graphics to audio/video hardware for Xbox. This is a rare thing to happen but sometimes, due to OEM crap ware, the power plans in Windows 7 (or Vista, if that’s your thing ) either disappear or are renamed to something else than what they are in a clean Windows 7 install. Recently, due to a certain HP app, the High Performance power plan just disappeared from my Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit edition install on my notebook and I was just left with 2 options for power plans, Balance and Power saver. Upon doing a little research, I found the fix for this. Read more...

Next week is the annual Pwn2Own competition, in which security analysts and hackers alike attempt to find and show off security exploits on various devices. While Pwn2Own generally centralizes around computers, this year the mobile display is receiving a lot of attention. The mobile display will test the security of four devices: the iPhone 4 running iOS, the Blackberry Torch 9800 running Blackberry 6 OS, the Nexus S running Android, and the Dell Venue Pro running Windows Phone 7.
