I love trying out new operating systems and gadgets. That’s why I blog on technology. So despite any doubts I had on Microsoft’s latest effort in the mobile arena, despite their history with Windows Mobile 6.5 (could have been way better than what it was) and KIN (duh!), I decided to give Windows Phone 7 a try. I had been using Android and iOS so I had a pretty good idea of what to compare WP7 with. And after giving it lots of chances, here’s my honest and unbiased opinion on Microsoft’s efforts. It seems that first Windows Phone 7 update, which has just been rolled out for download, is resulting in a number of major issues for many Samsung Omnia 7 users. As reported by WinRumors, some users have not been able to complete the update process at all. After plugging their devices into their PCs, they seem to get stuck at stage 6 of the update resulting in their handset hanging on a “connect your phone to your PC” screen. Some are suggesting thisĀ WP7 update problem may be caused by different Samsung firmware versions while others believe it may be caused by 64-bit version os of the Zune client. Read more...

Until now, Microsoft has been extremely quiet regarding the Windows 8 project despite showing off a preview of an early build of Windows 8 last week at CES in Las Vegas. Read more...

One of my favorite features in a Unix/Linux-based OS is the ability to scroll in any window my mouse is over, whether it’s the “active” window or not. When running Windows, it can be frustrating to find that you cannot do the same thing natively. WizMouse bridges the gap by bringing a Mac/Linux scrolling style to your Windows OS. Read more...

Amnesia: The Dark Descent is a great horror game that was independently developed by Frictional Games. Because Amnesia contains no multiplayer, no achievements, and a finite ending(although there’s more than one), it does not hold much replay value. At least, not without custom stories. Custom stories are stories made by the community for play on Amnesia. Here’s a short guide for how and where to install custom stories on your computer. Please note that this guide assumes that for Mac you installed Amnesia via Steam. For those who installed directly to Mac, the steps are similar but the location is different. Read more...
