Several months ago, we were hoping that HP will release their tablet HP Slate in competition against the Apple iPad but for some reason they decided to kill the HP Slate project in April and then not too much was heard about this device. But now, out of nowhere, HP has finally launched their Windows based tablet, HP slate 500. Physically, this slate is like the one shown in the videos before by HP but its software has nothing special like in those videos and it just runs vanilla Windows 7. HP is looking to target enterprise and business market with this tablet. Read more...

Talk about timing. Just when Apple announced that they’ll be launching a Mac App Store, Microsoft has unveiled Windows Product Scout which is sort of a half baked App Store. Not only does it let you search cool applications but also some useful hardware that should work well with Windows 7. I actually found a few applications for Windows Touch which I was previously unaware of, thanks to this useful website.

The HP Slate seemed to be something that was only looked at from afar, never to be touched. But this leaked video preview says different. A prototype of the product has been completely reviewed on YouTube, proving the tablet’s existence and hinting that not only enterprise customers, but ordinary people like us might be able to buy it one day. PC vs. Mac is a war that will never end. Just when you think that a WWDC event went quietly without Apple taking any shots at Microsoft or Apple stopped creating Get a Mac ads, Microsoft adds more fuel to the fire with a unbiased comparison of PC vs. Mac. The webpage, part of the Windows 7 website, falls under the compare area, where you can compare different Windows 7 editions, or Windows versions or even get help in deciding between a PC and a Mac.

Steve Ballmer isn’t one to be impressed easily. When he said that iPad sold more than he would have liked, it was obvious he doesn’t like it. He is representative of the general approach towards tablets/slates by Microsoft. They just don’t get them. Cramming a desktop operating system since more than a decade into a tablet hasn’t been fruitful for them, but still this is the strategy they’re gunning for to take down the iPad. Yes, it’s stupid but funny at the same time.

The iPad is a big success and currently no other tablet can even think of competing its sales figures. iOS is the best operating system available for any tablet device but still Microsoft hopes that they can compete with it using Windows 7 on a tablet. They just don’t learn do they? Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer said today at a company conference where he acknowledged the early success of iPad and said that they would launch their version of a tablet soon as reported by CNET. I realized I don’t have a good connection with all you guys so far. So here it goes.
Things have been slow around here recently. I blame it on workload, thanks to studies and other social responsibilities (also my crappy HP laptop, which has no other speed except slow!). Sincere apologies to all the readers who expect better stuff from ithinkdifferent. I’ve finally come around to implementing some better time management for myself ( in theory at least ), and finally I’m publishing more themes ( most of them user submitted themes ), so finally (I know!), you’ll be able to enjoy more customization.
