Firmware 4.5 for the Zune HD is now Available

Firmware 4.5 for the Zune HD is now available. You can update your Zune HD firmware by connecting it to your PC and hitting the update button. Firmware 4.5 for Zune HD includes the following new features:

  • The Smart DJ application which would allow the users to create an instant playlist mix whenever they want.
  • Personalized recommendations
  • Marketplace support for TV
  • With expanded support to include MPEG-4 Part 2 Advanced Simple Profile (ASP), which includes Xvid and AVI support. zuneHD_

The new features of the firmware 4.5 look great and will provide extended value to all Zune HD users If you haven’t updated your Zune HD firmware yet, we suggest you do it now to avoid missing the new features. The new features of the firmware were shown in a video by Michael Yaeger, Marketing Manager for Zune, a week before they launched the new firmware.

  1. Actually, I’ve seen at least two issues (apparently) *FIXED* in the 4.5 firmware.

    ISSUE #1: lock screen would often hang when first turning the device on. could not swipe the screen up to access the content for the first few seconds. this appears to have been fixed, at least for me.

    ISSUE #2: sometimes the device would continue to play music after the headphone jack had been unplugged, thus forcing you to “check” the play/pause state before putting it away. so far, this appears to have been fixed.

    Hey… I’m as excited for the “updates” as the next guy, but the “fixes” are where it’s at! :)
