We showed you a prototype MacBook Pro on Monday, which had an antennae for 3G connections attached to it. It turns out that Apple has pulled the auction from eBay. For what reason? We are not sure, but the bids on the laptop did reach $70,000 before Apple pulled the plug.

Apple’s MacBook line is without a doubt the top of the line laptop available to any user. They are feature rich, built great and are always on the cutting edge of technology available. The one and only thing that may be missing is a built in 3G modem for superior wireless capabilities. However, back in 2008 Steve Jobs told USAToday that he didn’t add the 3G functionality to the Macbook line because it created more complexity for engineers and locked users into using only once carrier.

Skype’s Android client has jut been updated to not only fix the embarassing “data hole” in the application, which was caused by lack of encryption usage on the database files which store contact information and chat history, but also brings the ability to make FREE Skype VoIP calls over your cell phone’s 3G data connection in addition to WiFi. The official announcements says “Calling over your 3G connection is available worldwide – now including the US”.

Today seems the be the custom-firmware-jailbreak-tools release day. Earlier, PwnageTool 4.2 was released for Mac which jailbreak iOS 4.2.1 untethered on all devices. Now, sn0wbreeze 2.2 is available which does the same i.e. create custom jailbroken firmware for iOS 4.2.1. This custom firmware, once created, can just be restored using iTunes to your iOS device and voila! you have a jailbroken iOS 4.2.1 device.

greenpois0n RC5 ( and RC5_2 ) was released yesterday to Mac OS X users. It is an untethered jailbreak for iOS 4.2.1, which means that you don’t have to re-jailbreak your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch every time you restart it. A lot of users have been complaining to us as to why it’s available for OS X users only – well we don’t have an answer for that but what we know is that the Windows version is in the works and should be released in a couple of days.

Chronic Dev Team member has tweeted the release of an updated fixed version of greenpois0n RC5, untethered jailbreak for iOS 4.2.1 on iPhone 4, 3GS, iPod Touch 3G, 4G and iPad, versioned RC5_2. This version fixes the stuck at greenpois0n initialized screen issue.

greenpois0n has answered many prayers of jailbreakers today by providing an untethered jailbreak for iOS 4.2.1 for iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 3G, iPod Touch 4G and iPad. Along with this, there’s a surprise element in the Read Me file for greenpois0n RC5 which shows Verizon iPhone 4 in the list of supported devices but untested since obviously, the device hasn’t been released yet. What seemed like might be a long time to jailbreak the CDMA Verizon iPhone 4, seems like an early possibility now.

RIM’s 7-inch PlayBook is due to arrive in the first quarter of 2011 for under $500 putting it at a competitive price to fight against the iPad. For how long the PlayBook will remain at that price is still unknown.

If you have never heard of WiFi Sync before, it’s a little tweak available from Cydia(for $9.99) that allows you to sync your iPod, iPad or iPhone to iTunes without having to use the USB cable. The app is quick and reliable and many have been waiting for Apple to allow it officially in iTunes but they haven’t. Fortunately its available in the Cydia Store right now for all jailbreakers.

Netflix app has been available on the iPad since day 1. Back in June, at WWDC, Netflix was demoed on stage during the iPhone 4 launch event. Today, the update has finally hit the App Store and Netflix is now a universal app that runs on iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad at version 1.1.0.
