Today seems the be the custom-firmware-jailbreak-tools release day. Earlier, PwnageTool 4.2 was released for Mac which jailbreak iOS 4.2.1 untethered on all devices. Now, sn0wbreeze 2.2 is available which does the same i.e. create custom jailbroken firmware for iOS 4.2.1. greenpois0n RC5 ( and RC5_2 ) was released yesterday to Mac OS X users. It is an untethered jailbreak for iOS 4.2.1, which means that you don’t have to re-jailbreak your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch every time you restart it. A lot of users have been complaining to us as to why it’s available for OS X users only – well we don’t have an answer for that but what we know is that the Windows version is in the works and should be released in a couple of days. greenpois0n has answered many prayers of jailbreakers today by providing an untethered jailbreak for iOS 4.2.1 for iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 3G, iPod Touch 4G and iPad. Along with this, there’s a surprise element in the Read Me file for greenpois0n RC5 which shows Verizon iPhone 4 in the list of supported devices but untested since obviously, the device hasn’t been released yet. What seemed like might be a long time to jailbreak the CDMA Verizon iPhone 4, seems like an early possibility now.

Seriously, when did this happen? Wait, don’t answer that. No one cared about it, why? Simply because of all the iPad fuss. Engadget got a leaked photo of the iPad just before it was announced. It appears that the iPhone in the photo is a prototype of one of the handsets due to be released in the June/July period. Read more...
