How To Restore Default Windows 7 Power Plans

<Category: Microsoft, Windows> No comment

This is a rare thing to happen but sometimes, due to OEM crap ware, the power plans in Windows 7 (or Vista, if that’s your thing ) either disappear or are renamed to something else than what they are in a clean Windows 7 install. Recently, due to a certain HP app, the High Performance power plan just disappeared from my Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit edition install on my notebook and I was just left with 2 options for power plans, Balance and Power saver. Upon doing a little research, I found the fix for this.

WOW! This might be offensive to some Xbox 360 lovers but frankly speaking, it didn’t offend me at all coz I already have a RRoD 360 laying around the corner for quite some time now. It would be even better if I had a couple of such dead Xbox 360’s but those who do (and who also own a PlayStation 3 system), will be delighted to check out this mod. Ebil from Australia, has beautiful turned his dead xbox 360 shells into a couple of awesome looking PS3 / PS2 + PC + Xbox arcade sticks.

I love trying out new operating systems and gadgets. That’s why I blog on technology. So despite any doubts I had on Microsoft’s latest effort in the mobile arena, despite their history with Windows Mobile 6.5 (could have been way better than what it was) and KIN (duh!), I decided to give Windows Phone 7 a try. I had been using Android and iOS so I had a pretty good idea of what to compare WP7 with. And after giving it lots of chances, here’s my honest and unbiased opinion on Microsoft’s efforts.

<Category: Microsoft, Windows Phone 7> No comment

It seems that first Windows Phone 7 update, which has just been rolled out for download, is resulting in a number of major issues for many Samsung Omnia 7 users. As reported by WinRumors, some users have not been able to complete the update process at all. After plugging their devices into their PCs, they seem to get stuck at stage 6 of the update resulting in their handset hanging on a “connect your phone to your PC” screen. Some are suggesting this WP7 update problem may be caused by different Samsung firmware versions while others believe it may be caused by 64-bit version os of the Zune client.
