iPhone 4 Jailbroken! Userland jailbreak Coming Soon?
The speed at which progress is being made on jailbreaks and unlocks after the release of iOS 4 is quiet astounding. Just a while ago, planetbeing tweeted that he’s about to get a root shell (and SSH) on iPhone 4 using Comex’s code ( the creator of Spirit jailbreak tool ). Spirit is a userland jailbreak, so if the same code is being used for iPhone 4, then these signs point to a userland jailbreak for iPhone 4 expected soon.
Jailbreak iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad using Spirit on Linux
Spirit jailbreak was released some time ago for Windows and Mac users and allowed untethered jailbreak for iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad for OS 3.x. Make non-iPad apps run full screen (not just pixel-doubling) on the iPad!
Apple did a somewhat smart thing by allowing all iPhone/iPod Touch app to run in double the size on the iPad. Even though the apps look pixelated, they do work. Which makes one wonder, why didn’t Apple just make the apps run full screen on the iPad instead of just double their size? They look pixelated either way, but the black borders aren’t really fun to look at. Here’s a trick which lets you can make non-iPad apps run full screen on an iPad ( jailbreak required ). Trust us, they’ll actually look better.
Enable iPhone 3GS like Voice Control in iPad
Now that iPad jailbreak is out thanks to Spirit, let the modding begin! One of the coolest features of iPhone 3GS is voice control, and it’s shocking as to why Apple didn’t include it in the iPad despite equipping it with a mic. But fear not, you can get it to work on your iPad thanks to this little hack:
Jailbreak iPad OS 3.2 with Spirit
After so many jailbreak demo videos, we finally have a jailbreak in our hands for iPad OS 3.2. Spirit jailbreak has been the first one to be released to the public. Although it’s still in beta somewhat due to that fact that Cydia apps haven’t been designed for the iPad, so installing some apps might screw up the OS and require a restore. So better check up online if the Cydia app works with iPad before installing it.
