During his announcement at the Consumer Electronics Show, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer announced that a total of 8 million Kinect devices had been sold following the first 60 days of its launch. The CEO added that over 50 million Xbox 360 units had also been sold till date and that such milestones will keep coming. Microsoft is also expected to release a Kinect-enabled ESPN football rivalry game soon. Another day, another new Kinect hack. Kinect has become sort of like a canvas that is allowing hacker’s imaginations run wild. This time Kinect has been hacked to allow control of XBMC, a popular media center app, using just hand gestures. While this isn’t an elegant solution as you can tell from the video, it could be improved to become as useable as the Kinect hub on Xbox 360. Or Microsoft could just add more features to the Kinect hub to allow us to browse through our movie collections, minority report style. What up! Read more...

This may sound highly unlikely but rumor has it that several big action titles including Gears Of War will be announced by Microsoft as Kinect compatible in the next couple of months. According to Inside Kinect, Epic is working on a Gears Of War Kinect version though it is not yet clear whether it will be a part of Gears Of War 3 itself or an entirely new game! Read more...

Engadget has found a few videos of the new Xbox 360 Dashboard that has been leaked thanks to the Kinect beta program. This new Dashboard will be released as an update in November. This new Dashboard will be compatible with Kinect so you’ll be able to control it with gestures and voice commands. The dashboard is still in beta but gives a good idea of what’s to come.
