BREAKING: Skype for Android Now Available for All Users! (Not just Verizon anymore)

<Category: Android, Google> 3 Comments

All Android users had been waiting for this news since a long time: Skype for Android is now available for every Android user. Previously, it was restricted to only Verizon users, just like Microsoft’s Bing app is which was totally ridiculous to be honest – it puts the ‘open’ness of Android to shame. But that’s in the past and the app can now be downloaded for free from Android Market. You can make free Skype-to-Skype calls (no matter PC, Mac, iPhone or Android etc) and chat with friends as well. Calls work over both WiFi and 3G but for US users, it’s WiFi only. And of course, you can buy Skype Credit to place calls anywhere in the world!

Netflix App for iPhone Updated with Video Out Support

Netflix iPhone App Video Out

Netflix App has gotten an update and now supports video out on iPhone 4 and iPod Touch 4G.  Weirdly, they’ve left out iPhone 3GS and iPod Touch 3G users out for the new feature. Keep in mind that iPhone 3GS is still being sold as an 8GB model, so it’s a really stupid decision on the company’s behalf to not support video out on a current product. The Netflix app is a universal binary so this also means that video out isn’t supported for the iPad too.

If you’re anything like us then you have multiple computers. It gets pretty hard to keep everything on one computer. For example you like songs on your friend’s computer and would like to add it your iPhone. Apple hasn’t given us the ability to do that. There are a couple if different ways to do it like with Hex editor, but it gets time consuming.

Private Browsing Mode ‘Covert’ will be available for Mobile Safari Soon on Jailbroken iOS Devices [Cydia App]

<Category: Apple, iPad, iPhone, iPod> No comment

Apple’s Safari for Mac and Windows was one of the first browsers to have a private surfing mode, although Google Chrome has the best implementation of it to date. Apple never put a private browsing mode in Mobile Safari, possible because an iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad is intended to be a single user, personal device, hence not needing such a mode. But the truth is, iPod Touch and iPad are actually shared by family members way more than you think.
