If you have the stock Android UI, without any additions such as Motoblur, or Sense UI, you would be bored with the interface, and it won’t satisfy your customization needs. PDC09, Microsoft’s Professional Developer Conference is all set to kick off on 17th November. Among many exciting technologies, Windows Azure will be one of the highlights of the event. Windows Azure is a cloud based services operating system that provides developers on-demand computing environment, storage for hosting and scalability purposes and web application management. With Windows Azure, user’s web applications are hosted on Microsoft’s datacenters.

A look at new icon designs by Microsoft

Application icons are an integral part of a software as much as its UI. To be able to have icons that help users identify your applications at a glance is a design win. Since Microsoft has new software or new versions of software being developed all the time, it is interesting to go through the different types of icons they use for different applications. Let’s take a brief look at these icons.

You know those rumored Zune Apps and Games? They have been confirmed!

Rejoice Zune HD users! Apps will be coming to the Tegra based powerful device. A video has been uploaded by a person trying out the Zune HD and finding out the Apps category in the Marketplace which is further confirmed by the other person demoing it. That person doesn’t reply when asked about an SDK though. Plus we have no idea on where they would be installed. My guess is an App link in the main menu when one is installed or after a software update because strangely, Microsoft is still not advertising Apps as a feature.

price_of_apps_over_time That’s right. Even though you can’t install all of them at once, that’s what it’ll cost you to buy all of them. Busted loop has done some calculations and found out the price of 55,732 apps ( as of July 7 ) to be $2.59 per app. It goes up to $3.34 if you just count the paid apps which make up 43,194 apps. They’ve also made a table which ranks the total costs of all the apps by iPhone app publishers. The top one is Iceberg Reader, they have 1206 paid apps with a total cost of $16,427.94
