Yet another simple yet handy tweak has been added to the ever growing Cydia library. Its called “App Switcher Ringer” and as the name suggests, it lets you change your iPhone‘s ringer volume using the app switcher bar. In addition, you can also control the iPod‘s music volume. A cool new tweak called “SwitchBoard” has recently been launched on the Cydia store. It lets you easily customize how your iOS 4′s native multitasking switcher behaves with options such as No Wiggle, Multitasking Filter or Two Touch Removal of running apps from the multitasking tray. Once SwitchBoard is downloaded, there are no springboard icons installed. Simply go to Settings where you can find Switchboard options to fully customize your multitasking switcher.  Read more...

Cydia was recently updated to introduce a handy Manage Account feature to keep track of all your Cydia app purchases in one place. Just now, a revised Theme Center has been launched which lists all of Cydia’s Winterboard themes categorized as HD and SD by various featured artists in an organized fashion. You can now browse themes which are exclusively for Retina display (iPhone 4, iPod touch 4G) or view only the non-Retina themes. Great news folks! Full version of XBMC is now available for your iPhone and iPad as a free download from Cydia. You can now drag and drop media content from your computer as well as stream movies from your computer or XBMC-based HTPC straight to your iOS device without the need of any transcoding with smooth hardware-accelerated playback of up to 720p HD content. This one is currently my favorite Cydia tweak and its called “CameraButtons”. Once installed, it lets you to take photos and shoot videos with your iPhone’s volume keys, something I’ve always missed in my iPhone 4. CamerButtons has no springboard icon, instead a menu with handful of options is added to the iPhone’s native settings. The tweak gives you complete touch-free control of your iOS camera app. You can easily configure the volume up button, volume down button, and shake action to your desired function from the settings menu.  Read more...

A few hours ago, Chronic Dev Team member @pod2g tweeted a link to a YouTube video which successfully demonstrates the upcoming untethered jailbreak for iOS 4.2.1. The video shows an untethered jailbroken iPhone 4 running iOS 4.2.1 but we presume that the same untether should work with iPod touch and iPad as well. I’ve always wanted this feature on my iPhone and after trying all those annoying no-good free and paid apps on App Store, I eventually gave up looking! But now, a brand new Cydia tweak called Click2Call seems to have solved this problem allowing you to create springboard icons / shortcuts to your favourite address book contacts without using the old Safari bookmark workaround used by most App Store apps. Instead, Click2Call uses MobileSubstrate to make the calls and allows you to create springboard icons for both a phone number or a FaceTime contact.  Read more...
