Apple Releases iTunes U App for iPad and iPhone

iTunes U has been Apple’s attempt at providing educational institutes to publish content in the iTunes Store which can be downloaded for free. iTunes U contains over 500,000 free lectures, videos, books and other resources spanning across a huge variety of subjects. Distinguished educational institutes such as Stanford, Yale, Oxford and the likes have published content in iTunes U.

Apple launches iBooks 2 for iPad and Reinvents Textbooks

Apple announced iBooks 2 for iPad yesterday with the major new announcement of iBooks textbooks. iBooks textbooks are not simply digital versions of their paper back counterparts but they contain interactive photos, videos, navigation, diagrams and so much more. This is a major step by Apple towards helping out students. Companies such as Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, McGraw-Hill and Pearson will be offering educational titles in the iBookstore and most books will be priced at $14.99 or less as compared to the paperback versions which cost anywhere from $60 to $100.

Facebook Messenger for Windows Available for Download

Titled Facebook Messenger, Facebook has officially released an app for Windows which lets you chat with your friends, watch their recent posts in the news ticker as well as stay up to date with notifications. According to Facebook, the app is being rolled out to a limited number of users, which answers the question as to why there isn’t an official page on this but just a help topic entry only. Strangely, despite being in trial period, Facebook hasn’t called the Messenger app beta.

Apple Releases iTunes 10.5 beta 6

To accompany the release of iOS 5 Beta 6, Apple has released iTunes 10.5 beta 6 for both Mac and Windows. You need this update to be able to install iOS 5 beta 6 on our iOS device or to be able to sync it as well. Alternatively, you can download iOS 5 beta 6 OTA if you’re running iOS 5 beta 5 on a non-jailbroken device.

Google’s Photovine App now available to all Users! [Download]

Back in July, Google released it’s own photo sharing application, Photovine. The Photovine service works by a user uploading a photo and creating a caption for the photo. Then others can see the photo and share it. Hence, creating a vine. The app was first released as a beta only service, but with last nights update, anyone can sign up for the new service.

Apple Releases First Lion Update, Mac OS X 10.7.1 [Direct Download Links]

It hasn’t been much time since Apple launched Lion, Mac OS X 10.7, to the general public. There have been cries of various issues, specifically the unreliability of WiFi connections in Lion, due to which Apple has hurriedly released the first update, 10.7.1 to the general public. Weirdly, this build wasn’t even released to developers before general availability today while OS X 10.7.2 was seeded to developers.

How To: Re-Download OSX Lion from the Mac App Store
