Titled Facebook Messenger, Facebook has officially released an app for Windows which lets you chat with your friends, watch their recent posts in the news ticker as well as stay up to date with notifications. According to Facebook, the app is being rolled out to a limited number of users, which answers the question as to why there isn’t an official page on this but just a help topic entry only. Facebook has updated their Messenger app for iPhone and iPod Touch with support for iOS 5 and turned it into more of a chat/messaging app hybrid. It was initially just a simple messaging app but has now gained status indicators to show which contacts are online and which are on mobile. During a conversation, typing indicator is also shown making it essentially a stand alone Facebook chat app as well as a quick way to access your inbox. Read more...

Without a doubt, Notification Center in iOS 5 beta seems to be the hot favorite for many developers, among the 200+ new features which have been included in the latest iOS update. Many handy widgets have already been released for iOS customization including Spring Prefs, WidgetTask and UISettings. Even social media widgets are beginning to pour in now with Twitter Integration Widget already out and now comes another one for Facebook. Folks over at TechCrunch have published something very interesting for the Facebook fans who use their iOS devices for photo uploads and status updates. According to the post, they have received extensive information including screenshots and documentation which points to a secret photo sharing app from Facebook in development for iPhone, iPod and iPad. It is not sure whether the photo sharing shown in leaked images will be a part of the current Facebook iOS app or it will be a totally redesigned application, or could well be an entirely new one. Facebook is currently the world’s largest photo service with over 100 Billion photos so it makes all the more sense to have a dedicated photo sharing app. Read more...
