<Category: Microsoft, Windows> No comment

In the midst of several Windows 8 leaks, including Kinect integration and a webcam app, comes a welcome change in how Aero can be used. The ‘Aurora’ setting for Aero, which replaces ‘Chocolate’, causes Aero to change to match the active window. This change, while minimal, will be well received by those who want a constantly changing desktop. Simple guide following the break.

FaceTime

Apple has posted a new ad for iPhone 4 in which they are focusing on FaceTime video chat features. This ad is set to ‘’When You Smiling’ a song by Larry Shay, Mark Fisher, and Joe Goodwin which was made famous by Louis Armstrong. The ad pretty much has the snaps of the Facetime video which was shown at WWDC10. It spreads the idea of using Facetime for sharing special moments of your life with your family. The ad is good just like all other Apple ads. Check it out after the break.

Using Google Chrome’s Pin Tabs feature

<Category: Chrome, Google> Only 1 comment

Google Chrome Pin tab Google Chrome recently hit the version 5 milestone for the dev branch. It should be world record for a browser, because even after more than a decade, Internet Explorer is at version 8, Firefox just reached 3.6 and Opera is at 10.5. While we still don’t have built in support for RSS feeds in Google Chrome ( they probably want us to use Google Reader instead ), Google has been providing other cool features like themes, extension support and faster speeds all the time. One of the coolest features of Chrome is the Pin Tabs feature.

Windows Vista 7 Aero Glass Firefox 3.7 mockupFirefox 3.7 might have full support for Aero glass in Windows Vista and 7 as evident from some mockups available in the Mozilla Wiki. These are only mockups of what it might look like, but don’t raise your expectations to high. Mozilla had claimed to make Firefox 3 resemble the UI of different operating systems, but so far they didn’t get it right for Vista and XP despite many releases.

No Voice Control for iPhone 3G, iPod Touch and first gen iPhone

<Category: iPhone> 36 Comments

image One of the main features of iPhone 3G S is called Voice Control, which allows you to place a call or play music just by using voice commands. It’s not part of the iPhone OS 3.0 as everyone presumed. The reason behind this can be attributed to the faster processor and larger amount of RAM in iPhone 3G S, which makes it more suitable for an intensive task such as Voice Control. Even the current generation iPod Touch, which has a support for a mic which you can Skype with, doesn’t support this feature. The iPod Touch is a bit faster in performance than the iPhone 3G, so Voice Command could be touted as a main selling point to give users a reason to upgrade to the iPhone 3G S.
