I remember when HP announced the TouchPad. My first thought was “What a joke. There is no way they can compete with the iPad.” Not only that, but WebOS does not have the market penetration compared to Android and iOS. HP today said that it was going to discontinue it’s WebOS devices and look to spin off it’s personal computer division into a separate entity, while big brother HP will focus more on enterprise sales and development. HP had announced their Windows 7 based HP Slate even before the iPad was announced but for some reason they killed the that device. After HP’s buy out of Palm, we are now hearing about a WebOS Tablet by HP since some months. Now HP has finally confirmed that they will launch their WebOS Tablet in early 2011. May be that was one of the reasons why HP bought Palm and then kill their Windows 7 based tablet. Read more...

HP is the world’s largest PC vendor company and because of this, they have a big attachment with Microsoft. But after acquiring Palm, HP wants to bring WebOS upto competition against iPhone’s iOS, Android and also Windows Phone 7. HP has clearly stated that they won’t make smartphones for both Web OS and Windows Phone 7, instead they’ll just make devices for Web OS. This move is not surprising as HP has just acquired Palm and Web OS for $1.2 billion and now they want to use it. Read more...

One of the most commonly reported issues with the HP TouchSmart TX2z series convertible tablet PCs is that the fan noise is too loud. Luckily, it’s not because the notebook overheats like the older TX series notebooks which had Nvidia graphics but the noise can be annoying none the less. There is almost no noise when the TX2z is used on battery but increases tremendously when plugged in. Turns out, you don’t need to apply any thermal paste to your CPU or do any undervolting to fix it. Atommic from the TouchSmart Dev Zone has a simple fix which involves disabling the modem software. Here’s how it works: Read more...

Remember Lauren from the Laptop Hunters ad? She’s back again! This time in an HP commercial showing what she can do with her HP dv7 laptop that she bought from the Laptop Hunters ad. We only get to see her ads and the clips from the old ad, but it’s still good to see her back. Very smart of HP to capitalize on the Laptop Hunters advertisement’s popularity and carry on from where it left. Read more...
