Reading is mostly what large screen users do. Yup, the iPad and Tabs are heavily used for reading, and not just watching movies or videos, or an alternate for a full time laptop (let’s not forget they come very handy when sharing presentations).

Safari for iOS is undoubtedly the best browser on any mobile platform. Chrome Beta for Android comes close but it’s available to only a small minority of users and it’s still in beta. Due to variations in hardware and software capabilities, it might not be possible for Chrome Beta for Android to give the same experience that Mobile Safari provides. We could be wrong though given that Google knows very well how to make a good browser.

Codify for iPad is the first Multi-Touch Capable Visual Programming IDE for iOS
One of the first comebacks that people who aren’t willing to let go of the desktop/notebook paradigm against iPad is that it’s just a consumption device and not one for creation. This is said despite the fact that iPad has awesome creativity apps like iMovie and Garageband as well as the complete iWorks suite of apps. It was only a matter of time that a full featured visual programming IDE has not arrived to the iPad in the form of Codify.
Facebook Messenger Updated to Version 1.5 – Shows Online Friends, Typing Indicator and More
Facebook has updated their Messenger app for iPhone and iPod Touch with support for iOS 5 and turned it into more of a chat/messaging app hybrid. It was initially just a simple messaging app but has now gained status indicators to show which contacts are online and which are on mobile. During a conversation, typing indicator is also shown making it essentially a stand alone Facebook chat app as well as a quick way to access your inbox.
Jailbreak iOS 5 Beta 6 with Snowbreeze v2.8 Beta 6
Okay, now that we told you the jailbreak was not available, then available, then not available again, iH8snow has released version 2.8 Beta 6 of Snowbreeze that supports iOS 5 Beta 6. This release of Snowbreeze also removes the UDID check and automatically activates the device once it is restored. Also, the expiration date for the beta is removed when you create the customer firmware as well. The Baseband is also preserved with the new firmware.

iOS 5 is expected to be released in late September or early October of this year, and it comes with a ton of new features. Betas for the new iOS have come out almost every 2 weeks now and we can’t wait to see the final version. With all of these releases comes new features and new fixes to current bugs. However, one thing “fixed” in the most recent beta is that developers have a new way for track their users instead of your UDID, or Unique Device Identifier. How does it affect developers and you? If you haven’t had a chance to try iOS 5 Beta on your own, then you may not have noticed the new round button on the toggles. In all the iOS version prior, the toggle was rectangular. I prefer the new round toggle switch, and there is a reason Apple chose those buttons.
Apple Releases iTunes 10.5 beta 6
To accompany the release of iOS 5 Beta 6, Apple has released iTunes 10.5 beta 6 for both Mac and Windows. You need this update to be able to install iOS 5 beta 6 on our iOS device or to be able to sync it as well. Alternatively, you can download iOS 5 beta 6 OTA if you’re running iOS 5 beta 5 on a non-jailbroken device.
iOS Developer Charged $50K by the FTC for Collecting Children’s Personal Data
W3 Innovations, or Broken Thumbs Apps, settled for $50,000 on August 15th for a complaint from the FTC (Federal Trade Commission) that they were collecting children’s data. The company was collecting this data without the child or the parent’s knowledge. Broken Thumbs Apps sells many games including Zombie Duck Hunt, Emily’s Dress Up, and more.
