redsn0w 0.9.6b1 was released to jailbreak iOS 4.1 on iPhone 3G and iPod touch 2G a few weeks ago. At that time, the release was Mac only. It could also be used to jailbreak iOS 4.2 beta, although with bugs, on the above mentioned iOS devices. The wait is over now and redsn0w 0.9.6b1 is available for Windows users.
sn0wbreeze 2.0 has just been released. It lets you create custom jailbroken iOS 4.1 firmware for iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS [old bootrom] and iPod Touch 2G (non-MC models). The firmware can then be restored to the iOS device via iTunes. sn0wbreeze 2.0 also lets supports iPhone activation, firmware customization ( such as Cydia packages and the likes ) and boot logo customization as well.
redsn0w 0.9.6b1 was released today with support for jailbreaking iPhone 3G and iPod Touch 2G on iOS with 4.1/4.0. For the adventurous users, it also lets you jailbreak iOS 4.2 Beta although it’s not bug free. In case you didn’t know, iOS 4.1 has been released to users. It’s available for iPhone 4, 3GS, 3G and iPod Touch 2G and later. It contains enhancements and new features such as Game Center, HDR photos, bug fixes, TV show rentals, HD video upload over WiFi, FaceTime calling from favorites and much more. As expected, iOS 4.1 has been released via iTunes 10. If you’re not on a jailbroken or unlocked iPhone, go get it. Else, stay back and wait for jailbreak and unlock tools to be available.
