You can now replicate all the new features of iOS 4.2 on older Apple devices such as iPhone 2G, iPhone 3G, iPod Touch 1G and iPod Touch 2G with a custom firmware called “whited00r”. You can get full support for your old iPhone / iPod touch with the whited00r project which easily lets you install, jailbreak as well as unlock a pseudo- iOS4 including the devices not supported officially by iOS 4 like iPhone 2G and iPod Touch 1G since the firmware is actually based on v3.1.x. A video has been posted on YouTube that compares the real world usage performance of iPhone 2G, 3G, 3GS and 4 by putting them side by side and clocking the load times of different apps on them. Spoiler: There isn’t much of a different in the loading times of iPhone 2G and 3G, similarly iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4 don’t have much difference either. Which means, if you have an iPhone 3GS, you don’t need to upgrade to iPhone 4 based on speed alone, unless you want a huge amount of memory for multitasking.

Its been just a few days since iPhone 4 launched. The launch has been quiet successful, although some issues are being reported with iPhone 4. Despite that, it is the best smartphone ever designed. It has cool new features like FaceTime and iMovie which were not there in previous generations of iPhone. Apple sold about 1.5 million iPhone 4 handsets on the first day of sales (estimate) and really these are impressive figures. Read more...

A lot of people were disappointed by Apple’s announcement that iPhone 2G wont get OS 4.0. Many would say that this is ridiculous because if iPhone 3G can have the 4.0 update, why not 2G? This could be based on some technical issues but we would never know until we get our hands on the OS release by this team called ‘Rebuilding OS Group’ who are working on bringing iPhone OS 4.0 to iPhone 2G. A few days ago, we saw that hackers were able to run Android on iPhone 2G. Now you can also run Android on your iPhone 2G thanks to a simple guide posted by Android A Alot. You just need to follow the simple steps and then you would be experiencing Android, a different kind of mobile OS, on your iPhone. The guide may seem too long, but it’s broken down into simple steps and nearly anyone can do these. But just because you can, doesn’t mean you should. Only try this if you’re willing to face the consequences if something goes wrong.
This guide can be followed on PC, Mac or Ubuntu. Windows users must get the Windows version of Virtual box. Read more...

The unthinkable has happened. This guy has managed to run Android on an iPhone 2G! This should make all Linux fans out there extremely happy( as well as Google ). Best thing about this is that the guy can boot into either iPhone OS or Android. While I have no idea why the hell would anyone want to ruin their iPhone by running Android on it, we’re all up for choices though! Check out the video: Read more...

The ih8sn0w team has released an update to sn0wbreeze, version 1.3, which supports jailbreaking and hacktivation for iPhone 2G, 3G and 3GS ( old bootrom models ). Keep in mind that sn0wbreeze v1.3 does not support iPod Touch yet. You’ll have to use redsn0w for that, read our full guide on how to jailbreak iPod Touch with redsn0w here.
(If you don’t know what you’re doing, don’t do it. Try jailbreaking your iPhone on your own risk.) Read more...
