Apple has just dropped iTunes v10.1 which is now available for public download. This is an essential update required to restore iPhone, iPad and iPod touch to iOS 4.2 which is due to be released soon enough.

According to MacStories, iOS 4.2 may be released this Friday. This latest version of iOS will be compatible with the iPad which will bring many new features to the tablet including folders and multitasking.The GM version was released last week to developers which usually suggests that it will be released to the public soon.

If you are among the earliest adopters who bought the latest Apple TV 2G, you must be missing the lack of support for iTunes LP and iTunes Extras on your new gadget. The feature is still there for the old Apple TV but since the latest one is based on iOS unlike the previous one, the support for iTunes LP / Extras has gone missing. But now, it seems as if Apple is ready to bring these features to the second generation Apple TV as well.

Apple TV has been jailbroken using the Shatter exploit as evident by the video posted earlier by the iPhone Dev Team. While the jailbreak hasn’t gone public yet as there’s still much work to be done, StealthBravo has already tweeted a method to put Apple TV in DFU mode. This would come in handy when the jailbreak tool is released and for possible custom jailbroken firmware restores. You’ll need a microUSB cable to get this to work though.

Apple has јυѕt released iTunes 10.1 Beta & iOS 4.2 Beta 2 fοr iPad & iPhone/iPod Touch to the enrolled developers. The first beta of iOS 4.2 was released earlier this month.

If you’re anything like us then you have multiple computers. It gets pretty hard to keep everything on one computer. For example you like songs on your friend’s computer and would like to add it your iPhone. Apple hasn’t given us the ability to do that.
