Even though it’s been some time since the iPhone Dev Team publically made available untethered jailbreak tools for iOS 5.0.1, they’ve been working hard to fix the remaining issues. The biggest issue of all was with iBooks which has been fixed with redsn0w 0.9.10b4 release or if you’re already on an untethered jailbroken iOS 5.0.1 device, through Corona 1.0.-5

iOS 5 Beta 5: Download, Jailbreak & Activate Without A Developer Account On Your iPhone, iPod touch or iPad

<Category: Apple, iPad, iPhone, iPod, iTunes> 2 Comments

Apple released iOS 5 beta 5 a few days back and many users, including myself, who either have an Apple developer’s account or otherwise have their iOS device UDIDs registered through a relative / friend’s developer account, are already enjoying the latest beta. This is essential since restoring your iOS device to a beta build will not let you through the iTunes activation process, unless your device is registered at the Apple servers as a developer’s “test” device. Luckily, now there’s a workaround for those users who want to try out this latest iOS 5 beta and don’t have a developer account or device UDID registered.

iSSLFix Fixes SSL Exploit in iOS 4.3.5 and Lower, Cydia Download

<Category: Apple, iPad, iPhone, iPod> No comment

The most notorious and by far easiest way to jailbreak your iOS device, is to use JailbreakMe 3.0. However, the JailbreakMe jailbreak used a PDF exploit that Apple has since patched with 2 releases of iOS, 4.3.4 and 4.3.5. 4.3.4 fixed the PDF exploit and was not a recommended update if you used JailbreakMe to jailbreak your device. 4.3.5 was then released to fix other issues that were later found. Redsn0w can be used to jailbreak these iOS versions, but it is still a tethered jailbreak, so it is also not recommended.

Play HTML 5 Web Based Games on your Jailbroken Second Gen Apple TV

If any other Apple TV Owners out there are like me, I would love to have iOS apps and functionality available to me on my TV. Luckily, I will be able to mirror my iPad 2 on my TV with iOS 5, but others will have to settle for jailbreaks. Some information was found back in iOS 5 Beta 3 that the Apple TV will be able to support games and apps natively on the little device, but that will still need to wait for iOS 5 to release.
