iOS 5 has seen 2 beta releases so far, and if you are part of Apple’s Developer Program (like me) then you’ve been able to install this new version on your device. But what if you are not a developer and want to get your hands on the new version of iOS 5. Well, there is a way! Read more...

jailbreakMe, for those who do not know, was a webpage that iPhone users could go to in order to quickly jailbreak their new device. All it required was going to Safari, going to jailbreak.me and then waiting a minute in order for the phone to do it’s thing. After a reboot, you have an unlocked phone. Read more...

For those who haven’t yet had the privilege to test iOS 5 developers beta on their iPhone, iPod touch or iPad and then jailbreak it, UISettings is among the first jailbreak tweaks developed exclusively for iOS 5. It is integrated inside the Notification Center as a widget and does what SBSettings does for iOS 4 and below. However, with iOS 5 beta 2 update, the tweak seems to have stopped working and it just won’t show up after installation from Cydia. The developer appers to have ignored the fact and hasn’t yet released an update to fix the issue. However, it seems you can easily get it working on beta 2 nonetheless. Read more...

With Apple releasing iOS 5 into the hands of developers, all hackers and jailbreakers immediately started digging into the new iOS which brought tons of new features and enhancements. It rose the investable question, does the jailbreak work on iOS 5? and we found the answer to that pretty soon when MuscleNerd and company updated redsn0w to support iOS 5 jailbreak, though efforts of getting it untethered are currently under way. Unfortunately, a recent post from Dev-Team on their official blog has brought our attention to a rather troubling matter. Read more...

A brand new jailbreak tweak knows as WiFi Booster, has just hit the Cydia store which virtually boosts your iPhone’s WiFi signal. Well, to be more precise, the tweak actually makes a few changes to the Settings app allowing it to show all WiFi networks in range even those with the poorest signal. This is achieved by reducing the signal threshold at which WiFi hotspots are shown as “available” in the iOS Settings. WiFi Booster removes this threshold and thus shows us even the most far away WiFI networks, which frankly speaking, isn’t of much use. Read more...

Comex, the same genius who brought us userland jailbreak tools like Spirit and JailbreakMe, is ready to release another one and this time, its gonna be a much faster jailbreak process. This upcoming jailbreak tool is called JailbreakMe 3.0 which will support all current iOS devices including the iPad 2. However, what’s really new about this tool is that unlike all the current jailbreak solutions, it does not use the stashing approach which included Filesystem reorganizing by Cydia and a reboot. Rather it incorporates “Unionfs” meaning the jailbreaking process will be a lot faster than any tool previously used till date. Read more...

So you’ve upgraded your device to iOS 5 Beta, and would rather go back to a more solid user experience. Well, according to Apple, it is not possible to downgrade from iOS 5 Beta. It would be best to listen to their warning, but if you are daring and ready to dump iOS 5, then here are the steps to make it happen. As always, be sure you have a backup of your device in case you have any issues. Read more...

We’ve showed you a bunch of Notification Center customizations & widgets currently in the works including a Twitter integration widget and an SBSettings alternative i.e UISettings which also happens to be the first iOS 5 Notification Center tweak to hit the jailbreak scene. Although UISettings is a fantastic tweak and a much appreciated one, the design fails to impress the most of us. Luckily, another developer and designer has come up with a better looking alternate theme for the tweak called UISettings HD. The image below should give you a good idea! Read more...
