First picture of Microsoft’s Project Natal in the wild
Feb 5th
Microsoft is gearing up to launch Project Natal this holiday season according to the latest news without any price announcements. What we know is that a lot of big names are preparing software titles to be available for Project Natal at launch – after all ‘it’s the software, stupid’. According to The Seattle Times, Microsoft has hired Pegatron to build Project Natal controllers for Xbox 360 to go on sale later this year. No matter what the critics say, Project Natal will be awesome, given that the price is reasonable.
The above image was taken by Brier Dudley at one gaming studio that was given the Project Natal prototype development kit. We’ve seen the device before but never in the wild without Microsoft’s supervision.
P.S Is it just me or the device resembles Wall-E’s face a lot?

New features in Windows Mobile 6.5.3
Feb 3rd
Sony Ericsson Aspen is the first mobile with Windows Mobile 6.5.3, the latest update to version 6.5 which is optimized for finger touch with various updates to the UI. It’s the first version of Windows Mobile to natively support capacitive touch displays ( HTC HD2 with Windows Mobile 6.5 has a capacitive display too though), finally bringing it up to date with competing mobile operating systems. Internet Explorer performance has also been updated, but I’ve seen most Windows Mobile users deeply in love with Skyfire.
Microsoft releases an awesome Silverlight 4 Beta Client for Facebook for Windows and OS X
Jan 26th
Back in April 2009, Microsoft had demoed a Facebook app called Silverface for Windows 7 based on Facebook’s Open Stream API. The app looked amazing and utilized new Windows 7 desktop features very well. Sadly, that app was never released to the public. Then last November, we got our hand on Fishbowl, developed by UXLabs@Microsoft. This app provided a good experience of browsing Facebook using jumplists, touch and other nice little features, but the app was slow and somewhat confusing. You knew Microsoft could do much better than that.
Well, out of the blue, Microsoft has released a Silverlight 4 Beta Client for Facebook for Windows and OS X. It looks a lot like Zune Desktop app for Windows. Compared to Fishbowl, it’s fast – really fast. The UX of these app really blows anything that competing apps can provide. Friends, profiles, photos, event, messaging – you name it. This app has it all!
The next time you get hacked using IE 6, blame yourself, not Microsoft
Jan 23rd
Internet Explorer 6 is one of the most hated web browsers in the world, or let me be harsh and say the truth: it is the most hated browser in the world. Why is Internet Explorer 6 still used despite being so vulnerable to security attacks? Most websites don’t even support IE6 and vice versa because it’s that old. Was it always this way? No. Internet Explorer 6 was a good browser in its days (according to some) – the bygone days of 2001 to 2006 ( when Internet Explorer 7 was released ). But even Motorola Razor was an awesome cell phone in the past. Would you use it now when you have better alternatives?
