Microsoft has announced Windows Phone 7 Series at Mobile World Conference today and it has taken the tech community by storm. Even Engadget has a very positive review about the operating system so far. It’s clean, simple and flashy at the same time. The usability of the home screen beats anything that Apple has to offer with their bland and outdated ( almost 3 years old to be exact ) home screen concept. Expected to be available on handsets by holidays this year, Windows Phone 7 Series is a huge jump in smartphone innovation, something that happened the last time in 2007 with the iPhone and to some extent with Palm’s Web OS. Google announced their new service and it became the no.1 trending topic on Twitter. What makes Google Buzz on Mobile different is that it doesn’t have a typical mobile version of itself. There are several ways of accessing Google Buzz from your mobile phone and several features that come with it specifically using the location feature in your handsets. Read more...

Opera Mobile is the world’s most popular browser for smartphones, with over 25% share, as compared to Safari Mobile on iPhone OS which has just a little bit over 22%. What confuses me is how will they release to the iPhone, despite Apple not allowing any browser other then Safari Mobile ( those that exist in the App Store use Safari’s rendering engine ). Google has finally stepped up, and started offering a support phone line for Nexus One owners. I think it is necessary seeing the big number of customer complaints – but pretty much useless. Nexus One owners can call (888) 48NEXUS between 4am and 7pm PST to speak with customer support. Unfortunately, they will only be able to get information on status/shipping information on your order. iResQ has released pictures claiming they have the parts of the next generation iPhone 4G. As you can see it’s a bit taller then the last iPhones. But bear in mind, these pictures can be fake, and just for marketing purposes by iResQ. There seems to be a reflective surface over the phone’s speakers, which could mean it’s getting a camera. But don’t believe anything you see until it’s officially announced. Read more...

Michael Arrington from TechCrunch did an interview with Steve Ballmer which gives a lot of insight on Microsoft’s strategy for 3 screens ( PC, TV, Mobile ) and the cloud. He also talks about Bing, Azure, Mesh, Natal, Windows Mobile, Zune HD, Xbox 360 etc. Ballmer also gives a very good reason why there is not going to be a Microsoft manufactured phone because they want to focus on the software and services which would be beneficial for them down the road, when every phone will be a smart phone. For the complete transcript of the interview, check out TechCrunch’s post. Check out the video below: Read more...
