While doing some ‘ego searching’ today, I stumbled across this new Google Search results UI. It looks a lot cleaner than the current UI and a lot less colorful as well. The currently search selection has colored buttons while other search types have colorless images. Weirdly though, navigating to either of them brings back the old UI.

Google Buzz – The new social service from Google
Google just announced their new service – Google Buzz. Catchy name, I must say. This service will be automatically available for all Gmail users. It will be integrated into Gmail just like chat and video. Although I have yet to receive the service myself, lets go through some of its features.
New Windows 7 themes
One of the major improvements in Windows 7 are its extensive personalization options. You can either download themes from the voluminous collection from the Personalization Gallery or create your own basic themes that can easily be shared with friends and family. Their Personalization Gallery is updated quite often and with the coming of valentines day, four new themes have been added to it. Namely, Valentine, Cats Everywhere, Dogs in Summer and Year of the Tiger.
Official Google Mobile App for iPhone gets an update
Google Mobile App for the iPhone and iPod Touch just got an update of sorts. The changes aren’t too visible unless you count the web pages from search results opening within the app. Another ‘new’ feature is the ‘Bells and Whistles’ feature is now clearly visible. This feature lets you style your Google Mobile App with any color, change the sounds or show a Live Waveform during speech recognition and screen rotation.

Firefox 3.7 to get the Office Ribbon UI
Firefox has the worst UI amongst all the popular browsers. Almost all other browsers ( IE, Chrome, Safari ) have a new and better UI along with some sort of Windows 7 integration ( Aero Glass, jumplists, Aero Peek, thumbnail previews etc ), where as Firefox has none. The UI is still stuck in the Windows XP era. Mozilla has plans to change all that with Firefox 3.7 release.

A preview of upcoming Windows Live Movie Maker updates
Windows Live Movie Maker isn’t really the best application in the currently available Windows Live Essentials suite, since it hasn’t even hit version 1 yet and doesn’t have much features. Microsoft dumped the Movie Maker application that was bundled in Windows ( before Windows 7 ) to replace it with Windows Live Movie Maker but the reception for this application hasn’t been good. People have actually been downloading Windows Movie Maker for Windows 7.
Firefox 3.7 might have an Aero Glass supported theme in Vista and 7
Firefox 3.7 might have full support for Aero glass in Windows Vista and 7 as evident from some mockups available in the Mozilla Wiki. These are only mockups of what it might look like, but don’t raise your expectations to high. Mozilla had claimed to make Firefox 3 resemble the UI of different operating systems, but so far they didn’t get it right for Vista and XP despite many releases.
