The 2009 Perseid Meteor Showers will be start on 11th August after night and continue till sunrise on 12th August. If you live in North America you might be able to see them live by lying on the ground and looking straight up. If that’s not your thing, or you don’t live in North America, you can view the live video streams of Perseid Meteor Shower right here. The showers will be seen at these timings:

9 pm to 11 pm PST and 12 am to 5 am PST

You can also stay up to date with the event on Twitter by searching for the hashtag #meteorwatch arranged by the Newbury Astronomical Society in UK. I’ll add more links for live video streams as I find them.

The memorial of Michael Jackson is being held right now live. Michael Jackson will be buried today at a private funeral prior to the public event at Forest Lawn Memorial in the Hollywood Hills. The public event is a musical memorial which will have performances from a lot of celebrities. Beyoncé and Whitney Houston will be the hosts.

This is probably the largest memorial ever being held and will be watched by a billion people on TV. We’ll have more accurate figures in the coming days on the number of people that have tuned in online.

One of the most popular games in the world, Tetris celebrates its 25th birthday today. According to Telegraph

The game was created by Alexey Pajitnov, a computer engineer who was working for the Computing Centre of the Soviet Academy of Sciences.

It has sold more than 70 million copies, been released for nearly every video-game platform of the past two decades and even been played on the side of a skyscraper.

Alexey also created a lot of puzzle games, and a few for Microsoft as well, which were sold as Microsoft Entertainment Packs or Microsoft Puzzle Collections.
