Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you must be well aware by now that Google and Samsung unveiled the next generation Nexus phone called Galaxy Nexus. Although I’m not a fan of the name, I like the specifications that Samsung has been able to cram into the phone. Seems like they threw in everything that Apple rumor sites were saying that the iPhone 5 would have like the tear drop design and so on. I wont go through all the details here but you can just catch up with them on our friends’ coverage of Ice Cream Sandwich at Redmond Pie. Read more...

Among the 200+ new features that have been introduced in iOS 5, iMessage is definitely one of the best executed ones. It is incorporated seamlessly within the messages app and lets you send free text messages, photos and even videos to all other iPhone, iPod touch and iPad users running iOS 5 via Apple’s push notifications service, much like the Blackberry’s instant messenger. It even shows you delivery and read receipts as well as updates in real time as the other person is typing a message. Read more...

After a long wait and tons of leaked Android 2.2 Froyo builds, Samsung Galaxy S users got a well deserved Gingerbread 2.3.2 build I9000XWJV1. This is a beta build but everything seems to work in it. There are some reported incompatibilities with different apps but that’s due to the fact that it’s a Gingerbread build and not Froyo. Other than that, it seems like a good build to try out. If you’re interested, follow our simple instructions to install it. Read more...

I have seen a lot different articles and blogs about what should be included in iOS 5. After reading through these countless articles, I see a pattern starting to form. Almost NONE of the ideas would benefit the general user. I don’t know about you but I would like to see some better UI benefits in the update. It is no secret that the white coats at Apple have taken ideas from jailbreake developers for a long time now. And the beta version of iOS 4.3 is no different, it shows signs of being a great update (if they don’t kill the major improvements before it is launched to the public). Read more...

Steve Troughton-Smith, a Mac developer, has managed to get MeeGo 1.1, an upcoming Linux based mobile OS, working on the popular HTC HD2. This is the 4th (or 5th if you trust the Windows Phone 7 port demo videos) OS to work on the HD2. HD2 was one of the first phones with a 4.3” display as well as a 1Ghz SnapDragon processor. While Windows Mobile 6.5 has slowly faded away, HD2 is living thanks to wonderful support by the community by porting Android ( up to 2.3 ) to the phone.

Flash player for Android has received an update which makes it compatible with future OS updates. This confirms all the signs and rumors that Gingerbread, Android 2.3, could be in the hands of the public very soon. It’s good to see Adobe readying Flash before the release as this is only a good thing for users although we would love to see better performance on a broader set of Android devices now. Read more...
