The telecommunications company Nortel’s patents have now been sold to the Rockstar Consortium which includes Apple, Microsoft, Sony and Research In Motion after U.S. and Canada courts approved the transaction.

It took hackers a little more time than usual to figure it out but they eventually did. Now you can connect to PSN 3.66 online servers on your custom firmware 3.55 by connecting to a Sony hidden server. This could however be a temporary solution, though its fully working at the moment meaning you can play your favorite games online while staying on CFW 3.55 like kmaew. We strongly forbid you to try this since it isn’t a safe method, but we haven’t been able to hold you back in the past either, have we?

An all new PlayStation 3 Slim model (CECH-3000B) has just been made official by Sony which is lighter and consumes less power. The wattage has been reduced to 200W from previous 230W model while the weight has gone down to 5.7 pounds from 6.6. The unit will retail for $435 in Japan by September 2011. No official announcement regarding its North American release has yet been made. The console will arrive in Charcoal Black color with a 320GB HDD.

Developer Geoffrey Levand has just released a dual boot custom firmware which lets you either boot into GameOS or OtherOS. This has actually brought back what Sony once took away and what started the whole Sony vs Geohot war in the first place. This Dual Boot GameOS / Linux CFW is however, a lot more than Sony’s OtherOS. You get full access to GameOS from OtherOS as well as ability to downgrade without service mode among other features.

Like me, if you’re one of those guys who held back on iPad 2 and saved their money to grab one of those sleek and stylish Android 3.0 Honeycomb Galaxy tablets coming in next few weeks from Samsung, then this news is gonna make that decision a lot tougher to make in the end. Today, Sony has made an official announcement revealing two PlayStation branded honeycomb tablets called the S1 with a 9.4-inch screen and the S2 sporting two 5.5-inch screens which can be folded onto one another and be used either individually or separately.

A well known developer who goes by the name of Robo Hobo (from psx-scene) and is known for his work in creating / porting multiple emulators for jailbroken PS3 comes another release called Dosbox. It sure comes as a surprise move from Sony announcing that they have already come to a settlement with George Hotz aka Geohot regarding PlayStation 3 jailbreak lawsuit. According to the official statement, an agreement was reached last month on March 31st in which GeoHot has agreed not to publish the code while admitting that he never intended to make piracy easier.
