I got this idea of a free Windows 7 Ultimate giveaway competition from a picture recently taken at a Nokia press conference. The picture has a person holding a phone to my ears for a pose. When I posted in on Twitter, people actually took some interesting guesses. So keeping in mind that this should be different than other Windows 7 competitions, here it goes: Your chance to win a free copy of Windows 7 Ultimate via ithinkdiff.com! Read more...

Microsoft had shown appreciation to invited beta testers for Windows 7, as soon as it announced the time frame for RTM on July 22nd, with a thank you:
A special thank you to our beta testers is needed for their time and effort in helping make Windows 7 a solid release. The special pre-order offer we did offering Windows 7 Home Premium and Windows 7 Professional at almost 50% discount was done with our beta testers in mind. This made a lot of invited beta testers unhappy that they will be getting just a thank you unlike the last time, when Vista testers got a copy of Vista Ultimate for free when it RTM’d. These videos are from Microsoft’s Emerging Filmmakers Project made by students. “A Key Moment”, “Singing Antenna”, "Sports with Windows" and "TV+PC=Love" were some videos made for Windows Media Center by students involved in that project.
A Key Moment
This video has a key singing about Windows Media Center which turns into pleading to give it a try half way in between and ends with recommending Windows Vista. Begging people to use Vista and Windows Media Center? You be the judge. Read more...

Windows 7 has reached build number 7105 which is the RC Escrow. This means that it could be the build that would be released as a public release candidate for Windows 7, but don’t take my word on it, as per the MSDN RC page leak, it will be made public in May. Meanwhile, there is a possibility that this build will be leaked soon to the interwebs. The build string is 6.1.7105.0.090404-1235_x86fre_client_en-us_Retail_Ultimate-GB1CULFRER_EN_DVD according to a Russian website. And a change log has been posted as well: Read more...
