iOS 4 was released earlier today and the iPhone Dev Team was quick enough to release an ultrasn0w unlock for it. Thanks to the unlock, and the recently released redsn0w 0.9.5 beta 5, you can install, jailbreak and unlock iOS 4 on your iPhone 3G. Make sure you follow the instructions correctly.

That was quick! The iPhone Dev Team has released an update to ultrasn0w that unlocks basebands 04.26.08 to 05.13.04 just after iOS 4 was released to the public! This is great news for all those who had accidentally locked their iPhones. This unlock will work on your iPhone whether or not you have iOS 4 or not. But don’t upgrade just yet!

The popular unlock tool for iPhone 3G/3GS, blacksn0w, has been ported to iPhone OS 4.0 Beta 4 on iPhone 3GS. Blacksn0w currently works fine with 05.11.0 baseband. This jailbreak isn’t recommended for the average joe, but only for those willing to take risks with their iDevices.

Just a few days ago, a patch was released for Blacksn0w which allowed users to unlock iPhone 3G and 3GS with OS 3.1.3 and baseband 05.11.07. Today, the guy behind PushFix 2.0 (which enables push notifications on hacktivated iPhones) has released a modified version of Blacksn0w on Cydia. This version contains the original Blacksn0w along with the fix that was released a few days ago packaged into one version.

I can’t believe the outrageous number of fake jailbreaks spreading on the internet. One of them is Gull1Hack. The 18 year old German that made the Gull1hack has come clean and told the truth, ending his scam. Gull1hack really fooled many into believing it had the code to a new bootrom hack (I mean I almost got fooled).

The people behind the Gull1hack tool said they are working on a new unlocking tool for the iPhone 3.1.3 that comes with the 05.12.01 baseband on the iPhone 3GS with the new bootrom, using their version of Blacksn0w v2. You are free to believe the Gull1hack team, but nothing is for sure until the Dev Team or GeoHot confirm it working, we need proof.

For you unlucky people who updated their unlocked phones to firmware 3.1.3, have hope! George Hotz has confirmed that he has a working exploit which can be used to unlock the latest 05.12.01 baseband which was upgraded if you updated to newest firmware. No ETA was given was given regarding the release in his tweet, but it could be soon.
