Steve Jobs has been a rare visionary in the world of computers. Like those around him such as Bill Gates, Steve Jobs forever changes how we see and use computers. He was one of the first ones to recognize how computers would be a tool for users and will help them in becoming more efficient – computers are bicycles for the human mind, as he used to believe, since they amplify human abilities.

The jailbreak for iOS 5.0.1 on iPhone 4S and iPad 2 isn’t far off as evident by the amount of news and updates popping up all around. One of the latest come from pod2g who has blogged about a video demo of iPhone 4S iOS 5.0.1 untethered jailbreak. The video was made by @DHowett, a famous developer and member of the Chronic Dev Team.
Walmart has optimized it’s VUDU video on demand service for the iPad. And you won’t get it in the App Store, you’ll have to use the web. That’s right, VUDU uses a web app to stream video right to your iPad.
The folks over at 9to5mac have found a little nugget hiding inside of Facebook’s new Messenger app that was released yesterday. It appears that the Facebook application contains code for a video call component. See the screenshots below:
YouTube user FinalCutKing has published a funny yet quite impressive video showing how the new MacBook Air 2011 is even “Lighter-Than-Air”. He depicts the ultra portable notebook is so light that it can actually fly. The video has been shot with a Canon 5D camera and edited brilliantly by Zach King a.k.a FinalCutKing himself, using a Macbook Air 13” inch 2011.
One of the first things many people do after a fresh install of OS X Lion is to install VLC player because it plays almost every video format under the sun. As helpful as it is, VLC player is not easy on the eyes plus not everyone likes it. A better option is to install Perian, the swiss army for QuickTime. Perian is like those codec packages you find for Windows that enable native playback of all popular video formats in the default video player as well as in other places such as Quick Look. Some very interesting features which will be added in the upcoming Windows Phone 7 Mango update have been demonstrated at a recent “Mango event” held in Germany. These features were not revealed in previous WP7 Mango events held in NewYork and London. One of these new features is the “custom ringtones”, which are listed separate from the default ringtones. A new “battery saving” option has also been demoed in which the phone automatically disables multitasking, email, data and WiFi services to put the handset into battery saving mode, once a certain battery level is reached.
As much as I’ve liked Microsoft’s marketing campaign for Windows Phone 7 so far, there’s no doubt that it’s a bit misleading on many ends. A new video posted on Microsoft’s Student Partners YouTube channel proves exactly that. What happens in the video is that Windows Phone 7 is pitted up against an iPhone 4 in a very selective list of tasks that play to a few advantages that Windows Phone 7 has: built in Facebook integration and Bing search.
Even though Apple has just announced the official release date for White iPhone 4 is April 28th 2011, which is tomorrow, folks at iSpazio (the famous Italian Apple blog) have already got their hands on an official White iPhone 4. Not just that, they’ve been quick enough to upload what they are calling the “world’s first official White iPhone 4 unboxing video” on YouTube. This must be really exciting for those waiting anxiously to grab an iPhone 4 in white color when it hits the Apple stores worldwide tomorrow.
