This one is currently my favorite Cydia tweak and its called “CameraButtons”. Once installed, it lets you to take photos and shoot videos with your iPhone’s volume keys, something I’ve always missed in my iPhone 4. CamerButtons has no springboard icon, instead a menu with handful of options is added to the iPhone’s native settings. The tweak gives you complete touch-free control of your iOS camera app. You can easily configure the volume up button, volume down button, and shake action to your desired function from the settings menu. Verizon iPhone 4 was officially announced 10 days back and today they have launched its first video commercial. The CDMA iPhone 4 will be available for pre order on February 10th. The existing Verizon customers will be able to pre-order it earlier i.e on Feburary 3rd for $199 for the16GB model and $299 for the 32GB version. The commercial is quite dramatic even though the original iPhone 4 has been here for a while. Nonetheless Verizon is sure to sell millions of these CDMA iPhones this year. Read more...

This just leaked Youtube video clearly shows the PlayStation phone is for real as you can see it running PS One games Ridge Racer and Resident Evil 2. The video shows a good couple of minutes of gameplay, though the games seem to be running on an android emulator called ROM Buddy. As said by engadget, “it looks like this thing is pretty much a done deal“. With PlayStation phone’s chinese preview leaked a couple of days back and new footage of the device appearing online quite frequently, the official announcement seems imminent. Read more...

Firemint is working on Real Racing 2, the sequel to their best selling game Real Racing for iPhone / iPad and according to an official statement, it will feature real licensed cars. Yeah, thats more like working on Gran Turismo 5 for iPhone 4. Today, they have released a cinematic trailer for Real Racing 2 that reveals a few cars which would be included in their upcoming title. You all must have heard by now that Microsoft Kinect, the revolutionary motion controller device for Xbox 360 has been hacked to work partially with Windows and Mac OS X with some open source drivers. But now, Xbox 360 Kinect has been used to create an amazing shadow puppet show. Yes, thats right! Here we go again. Yet another video showing Windows Phone 7 OS running on HTC HD2. In case you don’t know the background to this story, HTC HD2 was to get Windows Phone 7 update but in the end it seems to have missed Microsoft’s hardware requirements by just the lack of a hardware search button. Whatever the case, hackers have been hard at work to get Windows Phone 7 OS ported to HTC HD2 so that all those owners who had bought it hoping that it’ll get Microsoft’s latest mobile OS update can have their dreams fulfilled.

I had been following this thread on enabling HD video recording on iPhone 3GS since some weeks now. It took some time to perfect, but now HD video of up to 1080×800 resolution can be recorded on the iPhone 3GS @ 30 frames per second. This is way better than the 640 x 480 official resolution provided by Apple. This is possible because the ARM Cortex processor in iPhone 3GS is capable of recording HD videos.
