A couple of days back, Apple announced its Magic Mouse. Later on, it was discovered in the  Magic Mouse user guide, that the upcoming Mac OS 10.6.2 will have built-in features for the Magic Mouse. This news got my attention and I just wondered will Apple be releasing Mac 10.6.2 on 22nd October in an attempt to take people’s attention away from Windows 7 launch event? If there were any doubts regarding the arrival date for Mac 10.6.2, all of them can be put aside as 9to5Mac reports that the OS update appears bug free (as per the test results) and looks all set to arrive today.

 Windows Start

Since Windows 7 is just about to launch on 22nd of October ( 12 days left! ), I decided to make this theme dedicated to Windows 7 itself. The Windows logo is surrounded by what Windows 7 is all about, where as the white color stands for the simplicity of doing things in 7 (compared to Vista of course ;) ). The theme is available free for download and works only on Windows 7. Check out the screenshot below for a preview.

TechCrunch’s Interesting Interview with Steve Ballmer

steve_ballmer Michael Arrington from TechCrunch did an interview with Steve Ballmer which gives a lot of insight on Microsoft’s strategy for 3 screens ( PC, TV, Mobile ) and the cloud. He also talks about Bing, Azure, Mesh, Natal, Windows Mobile, Zune HD, Xbox 360 etc. Ballmer also gives a very good reason why there is not going to be a Microsoft manufactured phone because they want to focus on the software and services which would be beneficial for them down the road, when every phone will be a smart phone. For the complete transcript of the interview, check out TechCrunch’s post. Check out the video below:

Firefox 3.7 to get the Office Ribbon UI

Fx-3.7-Direction-Phase-01

Firefox has the worst UI amongst all the popular browsers. Almost all other browsers ( IE, Chrome, Safari ) have a new and better UI along with some sort of Windows 7 integration ( Aero Glass, jumplists, Aero Peek, thumbnail previews etc ), where as Firefox has none. The UI is still stuck in the Windows XP era. Mozilla has plans to change all that with Firefox 3.7 release.
