Microsoft had shown appreciation to invited beta testers for Windows 7, as soon as it announced the time frame for RTM on July 22nd, with a thank you:
A special thank you to our beta testers is needed for their time and effort in helping make Windows 7 a solid release. The special pre-order offer we did offering Windows 7 Home Premium and Windows 7 Professional at almost 50% discount was done with our beta testers in mind. And many of you jumped at the chance to take advantage of this deal – thank you!
This made a lot of invited beta testers unhappy that they will be getting just a thank you unlike the last time, when Vista testers got a copy of Vista Ultimate for free when it RTM’d. Well, good news is that today, Microsoft changed its mind and has announced a free copy of Windows 7 Ultimate Edition for the invited beta testers (not the public beta testers). Read more...

A few day ago, Firefox 3.7 mockups were discovered which made good use of Aero Glass available in Windows Vista and 7. Now, mockups for Firefox 4.0 have surfaced on the Mozilla Wiki which aren’t too different than the previous ones, but show some interesting new additions to the UI. Two versions are proposed, the conventional Tabs on bottom, and the Chrome like tabs on top. The stop and go buttons as well as the location of Tools button really seems inspired from Google Chrome. After Safari 4, Firefox seems to be taking some lessons from Chrome over browser UI.
Check out the complete mockups below. But let’s hope that they fix the memory issues with Firefox before changing the UI. Read more...

Windows Home Server is an OS by Microsoft focused on providing centralized storage,
control and back up of your computers and media. It’s a very useful OS, provided you have a spare PC to be used as a server. The server doesn’t even need any peripherals, just install WHS, set it up and after that it’ll always be accessed through the remote console which is installed on the client PCs in your house. If you all can take out the issues you had with Windows Vista out of your mind for a minute and think hard, you’ll remember it had a very useful sidebar gadget called Notes. It let you quickly scribble down ideas, phone numbers and all sorts of texts and looked just like real sticky notes. It also had a few options for different fonts, font sizes and stick note color.
