Download Windows Live Wave 4 Leaked build!

Windows Live Wave 4 Beta setup was leaked a while back. It packs a whole new set of features but the interface is not that appealing, maybe because it’s not even in a beta stage right now. We really hope the final product is a lot like something which would perfectly blend into a Windows 7 style user interface.Installation

Using Office Web Apps on an iPod Touch or an iPhone

Microsoft has not announced Office Web Apps for the iPhone or iPod Touch currently, but there’s a workaround to get it running on these devices. The edit link for documents isn’t there when you open them in SkyDrive on the Mobile Safari browser due to lack of support. While the experience of running OWA is very similar to how it works on a PC without Silverlight support, you can’t actually edit anything, since the keyboard doesn’t come up for text editing fields. This has been tested in PowerPoint.

MSN Toolbar

Microsoft has updated the Silverlight MSN Toolbar and it’s now available for download for Internet Explorer ( 6+ ) and Firefox 3. It’s a lot more flashy in terms of looks and animations than the previous version and provides a great experience to common MSN website and Windows Live Services. Some of the new features include great Bing integration in search as well as better customization with different toolbar colors and scenes. Here’s a quick run down of the MSN Toolbar:

Microsoft Security Essentials will send your personal information back to Microsoft

<Category: Microsoft> 3 Comments

Microsoft has recently released a free anti-virus solution that proves out to be better than almost all paid solutions available for consumers out there. We did a detailed review of the AV earlier and you can read it at the link given in the post. But during extended usage, we came across the following. Turns out that it’s true, there’s no such thing as a free meal. The Microsoft SpyNet membership is a part of Microsoft Security Essentials ( Read Review), which you can’t disable or walk out off, and has 2 types — Basic and Advanced. Both of them have one thing in common though, which says

New Hotmail features

<Category: Microsoft, Windows Live> Only 1 comment

I’ve been using Hotmail regularly since a year now. I had shifted over to Gmail, but switched back somehow. But, I haven’t been a fan of the wave 3 updates so far in Hotmail. It has gone downhill in some departments while improved in others. Of course they can’t satisfy everybody’s taste, but I haven’t seen many people happy with the changes. A couple of new updates have been rolled out now which include

  • A web messenger in Hotmail, that disappears on its own from the service. Unfortunately, it isn’t appearing at this time of writing for me But having used it, all I can say is that it’s the worst Inbox-IM integration I’ve ever seen. Gmail does it the best, with Yahoo a close second. With Hotmail, you wont be able to see which contacts are online, you’ll have to search your address book. Although you can see if the sender of a particular email is online, but it still doesn’t work how IM should. Chat boxes open up in new windows which is another let down for me.
  • A map tool in email composing. It’s a great addition and I can think of many uses for it.whatsnew_w3m3_compose-en
