A new video has popped up on YouTube which shows Windows XP booting up on an iPod Touch 2G. It has been made by @iOSModifier and no information has been shared on how this feat has been accomplished which puts doubts in our minds on the authenticity of this video. According to the video, Windows XP boots and crashes with a Blue Screen of Death when the desktop loads.

Internet Explorer 6 is one of the most hated web browsers in the world, or let me be harsh and say the truth: it is the most hated browser in the world. Why is Internet Explorer 6 still used despite being so vulnerable to security attacks? Most websites don’t even support IE6 and vice versa because it’s that old. Was it always this way? No. Internet Explorer 6 was a good browser in its days (according to some) – the bygone days of 2001 to 2006 ( when Internet Explorer 7 was released ). But even Motorola Razor was an awesome cell phone in the past. Would you use it now when you have better alternatives? Read more...

I remember the good old times when I used to install a Power Toy to resize images in Windows XP. Later, I started using Microsoft Office Picture Manager with Windows Vista. Recently I stumbled across this very useful feature in Windows Live Photo Gallery, which lets you resize images, while maintaining the aspect ratio. Read more...

Microsoft has created a comparison chart between Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 based on business and enterprise features to help IT Professionals. The chart has 34 features compared ranging from file organization and search to security, remote access, management and deployment. The chart is available in a PDF from Microsoft Download Center, but I’ve snipped the image for convenience. Click on the image to see a larger version. Print it out and keep it close if you’re an IT professional, it might come in handy when trying to convince other people on Windows 7’s new and improved features for enterprise.

A lot of people like being stuck in the past. They don’t like change, even when it comes to their operating system. The reasons why they don’t upgrade are:
- Learning the new OS
- The current OS just works
- Too lazy
- Costs money
- Because Microsoft is a monopoly so they wont support it by upgrading. They’ll stick with Windows XP. ( way to go! )
- Ignorance
- Don’t know there’s a new version of Windows
- Media. Ridiculous propaganda by ridiculous blogs who like sucking up to Apple and live an anti-Microsoft life.
- All of the above
While most of the reasons stated above are valid to some extent, such as the current version of Windows just works, such people actually miss out on many new features that can make computing better for them. For example, why wouldn’t anyone want to take advantage of the built in codecs available in Windows Media Player 12 in Windows 7? or the new Device Stage? or built in ISO burning? or the hardware accelerated user interface (AERO) that’s not just eye candy but actually helps in productivity as well, Aero Snap being the prime example. I could go on and on with many such features for Windows 7, but in the end it comes down to these basic points in my opinion – you should upgrade to Windows 7 because: Read more...

A new blog has popped up on Office 2010, called the Microsoft Office 2010 IT Blog. It has given out information on the roll out of Office 2010 CTP to testers in July this year. Mary Jo Foley writes that Microsoft plans to roll out the CTP to thousands of invited testers in waves. The CTP will include Office 2010 Client, SharePoint Server 2010 and Office Web Applications, the online version of Office. Read more...

Ed Bott has a good benchmarking review of how Windows 7 handle 512 MB of memory when compared to Windows XP and Windows Vista. I had recently posted about a touchscreen 6000 MHz UMPC with 512 MB running Windows 7 nicely, so it shows that Windows 7 is indeed a step forward in terms of performance on low end systems. Good news for all you netbook advocates out there ( I’m not one of you, sorry ! ), and bad news for all the Linux zealots as they’ve got competition now. Interesting thing about Ed’s benchmarking is that he used the x64 edition of Windows 7 Beta, x86 version of Windows Vista and don’t know which version of Windows XP. To keep it fair, he updated all the operating systems with any critical and recommended updates available for them. No third party software was installed apart from Firefox on Windows XP. All these operating systems were testing in a virtual machine. Here are the memory and disk usage results: Read more...

Google Chrome looks as good on XP as it does on Vista. I like the blue title bar that shows up for Chrome in XP. I had been wondering how to get that theme in Windows Vista as well. If you use the Vista Basic theme, you can use Chrome with the blue theme in Vista as well, but after much research, I found out this relatively simple trick to revert Chrome to the XP theme in Vista, without turning off Aero.
