Windows 7 comes in Six Different Editions Starter, Home Basic, Home Premium, Enterprise, Ultimate and Professional. Home Premium, Ultimate and Professional SKUs are widely available whereas Starter and Enterprise Editions are not available in retail markets leaving Home Basic being available for only non-developed markets.

Visual Studio 2010, the latest version of Microsoft’s IDE with a new improved UI built using WPF and tools for Windows 7 and SharePoint 2010 development has already been delayed. Originally slated for 22nd March, the release was delayed to performance issues. The latest launch date has been set for April 12, 2010. Appropriately, Microsoft has delivered a release candidate build for Visual Studio 2010 and .NET 4 framework. Microsoft has released Kodu (Codename Boku), the game-creation tool previously available for Xbox 360, as a public beta for the PC. The beta is available for schools currently through Microsoft Connect. Kodu helps in teaching programming as well as improving design, math and problem solving skills for kids. Kodu uses simple icons as building blocks for for creating games and their environments. It has been popular amongst Xbox 360 users and has been downloaded 200,000 times since its launch at CES in January 2009. Read more...

One of the most commonly reported issues with the HP TouchSmart TX2z series convertible tablet PCs is that the fan noise is too loud. Luckily, it’s not because the notebook overheats like the older TX series notebooks which had Nvidia graphics but the noise can be annoying none the less. There is almost no noise when the TX2z is used on battery but increases tremendously when plugged in. I recently stumbled across this official gadget by Microsoft for Bing. As excited as I was, I was disappointed to find out that it’s a very simple gadget that only shows suggestions and opens up the search results in the browser. The drop down suggestions aren’t even visual, i.e. you wont see image suggestions or the weather by typing in ‘New York weather’ like you get in Internet Explorer 8’s search box. Read more...
