Verizon iPhone may launch in January next year

Some months ago before the launch of iPhone 4 we heard some rumors that Verizon will get the iPhone during the later part of this year. Now,  Bloomberg has reported that iPhone will launch on Verizon in January 2011. This will finally end the exclusivity of AT&T for the iPhone in the United States.

Verizon Wireless, the largest U.S. mobile-phone company, will start selling Apple Inc.’s iPhone next year, ending AT&T Inc.’s exclusive hold on the smartphone in the U.S., two people familiar with the plans said.

The device will be available to customers in January, according to the people, who declined to be named because the information isn’t public.

The report also tells that this iPhone would be CDMA compatible. But still, both Verizon and Apple representatives are not commenting on this report.

There have always been rumors that Verizon might pair with the iPhone. Another report states that CDMA iPhones will be assembled and begin shipping to Apple in the fourth quarter of 2010.
