WatchOS 2 GM released to Apple Watch developers

WatchOS 2 GM build has been released to Apple Developer Center users. The new golden master build is version 13S343 and will be identical to the public release, which is expected to be made available on 16 September, along with iOS 9.

WatchOS 2 ships with new features such as native apps and hardware access ( such as sensors, digital crown etc ) for developers, new watch faces, third party complications, time travel, video playback support and much more. Apps such as Mail, Maps, Digital Touch and more also receive some improvements. WatchOS 2 should make third party apps much faster as they would not have to load from the iPhone through Bluetooth connectivity.

Developers who are registered with Apple Developer Center can go ahead and download WatchOS 2 GM.

September 9 has been a busy day for Apple. Along with product announcements for iPad Pro, Apple Watch, Apple TV and iPhone 6s, Apple showed off some new natives apps for Apple Watch running on WatchOS 2. This included Facebook Messenger, GoPro and Airstrip. Along with the new product announcements, a number of operating system updates have been released including OS X 10.11 GM, iOS 9 GM and a new iOS 9.1 beta. Apple Watch also received a bunch of new collections and band colors, including a new Hermès collection.
