Chrome for iPhone and iPad has received a new update which finally enables account switching. The update also has support for iOS 26 and iPadOS 26 with the an updated icon as well as the new keyboard with rounded corners.
Users who use Chrome on desktop often love the ability to switch between multiple profiles in the browser. It allows for instant switching between different bookmarks, extensions, history, passwords, and every other settings that comes with the browser. This update allows users to switch between different Google accounts in the browser, for example, between personal and work accounts.
Other browsers like Safari and Edge have offered this functionality for some time now. Meanwhile, Chrome required users to sign out of one profile before signing in with another. With the latest update for iOS, Chrome users can now stay logged in to multiple profiles and switch between them with ease.
This update also allows children with supervised Google accounts to requested websites to be unblocked directly from their devices.
Here are the complete release notes from Google for this update:
You can now easily switch between your different Google Accounts in Chrome.
Easily keep your work and personal browsing separate by adding multiple accounts in Chrome.
Supervised users can now request approval from their parents to visit blocked sites directly from their iPhone or iPad.
Stability and performance improvements.
If you are an iPad user, specially on the latest iPadOS 26 release, you would be happy to know that you can have multiple windows open for Chrome, and use different profiles with each window. I have not stress tested this enough as to how many different profiles can you switch between at one time, but it seemed to work without any issues with two windows and two profiles.
Unfortunately, the update does not yet support background downloads on iPadOS 26 yet. Hopefully, we will get that in the next update.
