Getty Images has announced a multi-year agreement with OpenAI that brings licensed visual content into ChatGPT search and discovery experiences. The partnership will make Getty Images’ content libraries available within ChatGPT, expanding the range of visual responses shown in AI-powered results.

Under the agreement, Getty Images’ licensed content will appear across ChatGPT search and discovery features. The integration is designed to surface professional photography and imagery directly within responses, supported by Getty’s existing licensing framework and attribution standards.
“High-quality, licensed visual content makes AI-powered search and discovery more useful and more trustworthy,” said Craig Peters, CEO of Getty Images. “This partnership with OpenAI reflects a shared recognition of that, and together we will deliver richer visual experiences to ChatGPT users.”
The agreement focuses on display and attribution of Getty Images content within ChatGPT. It does not include details about pricing or financial structure, and it does not specify changes to existing licensing workflows outside the ChatGPT environment.
Getty Images operates one of the largest visual content platforms in the world through its Getty Images, iStock, and Unsplash brands. The company works with nearly 600,000 content creators and hundreds of content partners globally, covering more than 160,000 news, sports, and entertainment events each year. Its library spans millions of images across editorial and creative categories.
The partnership adds Getty Images’ licensed library to ChatGPT’s visual output layer, allowing content to appear directly within search and discovery experiences. The rollout details, including timing and presentation format, have not been disclosed.
