Yahoo has rolled out a major update for its Weather app on iPhone and iPad, bringing a redesigned interface, smarter forecasts, interactive radar, and richer weather insights. The update is available now as a free download on the App Store.
Instead of simply displaying temperatures and hourly forecasts, the redesigned app focuses on providing more context about changing weather conditions throughout the day. The experience has also been optimized separately for iPhone and iPad, making it easier to check forecasts whether you’re at home or on the go.
What’s New in the Yahoo Weather Redesign
One of the biggest additions is a new daily weather narrative that explains forecast changes in plain language instead of only showing numbers. The app also introduces minute-by-minute precipitation forecasts powered by AccuWeather MinuteCast, helping users better plan around sudden weather changes.
Other new features include:
- Interactive past and future radar
- Faster, more responsive weather maps
- Personalized weather notifications
- Multiple saved locations
- Customizable severe weather alerts
Yahoo has also expanded the amount of environmental information available in the app. Alongside temperature forecasts, users can now view:
- Air quality
- Pollen levels
- UV index
- Wind
- Humidity
- Visibility
- Moon phases
According to Yahoo, the redesign aims to make checking the weather more useful by combining trusted forecasts with additional context and environmental insights.
Mike Park, Head of Yahoo Weather, said people check the weather multiple times a day and want more than just a forecast. He said the redesigned app combines smarter forecasting, richer insights, and a cleaner interface to help users better understand and prepare for the day ahead.
The redesigned Yahoo Weather app is available now as a free update for iPhone and iPad. An updated Android version is also expected to roll out separately.
