If your Control Center icons have suddenly disappeared after installing the iOS 27 beta, you’re not alone. Several beta testers have reported a bug where controls become invisible or blank even though they still function when tapped.
The issue appears to be a user interface glitch rather than a hardware or settings problem. Until Apple releases a permanent fix in a future beta update, there are a few workarounds that can restore the missing icons.
Add a New Control to Refresh Control Center
For many users, simply adding another control forces Control Center to redraw its layout.
- Swipe down to open Control Center.
- Press and hold an empty area to enter edit mode.
- Tap Add a Control.
- Add any available control.
- Exit edit mode.
If the bug is caused by the current layout failing to refresh, the missing icons should reappear immediately.
Restart Your iPhone
If adding a control doesn’t help, restart your iPhone.
To force restart an iPhone with Face ID:
- Press and quickly release the Volume Up button.
- Press and quickly release the Volume Down button.
- Press and hold the Side button until the Apple logo appears.
After your iPhone restarts, open Control Center again to see whether the icons have returned.
If You Can’t Edit Control Center, Use Settings Instead
If the missing icons prevent you from editing Control Center directly, you can manage your controls from the Settings app instead.
- Open Settings.
- Tap Control Center.
- Add a new control or remove an existing one.
- Return to Control Center and check whether the missing icons have reappeared.
Making any change to your Control Center layout can force iOS 27 beta to refresh the interface, which has resolved the issue for some users.
Install the Latest iOS 27 Beta
Apple frequently fixes interface bugs between beta releases.
If a newer iOS 27 beta is available:
- Open Settings > General > Software Update.
- Download and install the latest beta.
Many UI issues are resolved through later beta builds, so keeping your device updated is recommended.
Report the Bug to Apple
If none of the above fixes work, submit a report through the Feedback Assistant app included with iOS beta software.
Providing screenshots and describing when the icons disappear can help Apple identify and fix the issue in a future beta update.
