iPhone 17 lineup dummy models show bold new colors

New photos of iPhone 17 color dummy models provide the best look yet at Apple’s 2025 palette. Leaker Sonny Dickson shared side-by-side shots of all three upcoming lines, revealing four finishes for each model tier and highlighting a few surprises compared with previous rumors.

Lineup of iPhone 17 Pro, 17 Air, and 17 dummy models in new color finishes

For the iPhone 17 Pro range, black and white return alongside a deep navy and a bright orange. The orange skews closer to copper in some lighting but remains far punchier than Apple’s typical muted Pro tones. A rumored gray option is absent from the dummy set, so it may debut later or replace one of the shown shades before launch.

The ultrathin iPhone 17 Air appears in black, white, gold, and a soft light blue reminiscent of the current MacBook Air. Gold switches from last year’s mirror-like champagne to a matte treatment that should resist fingerprints. The pastel blue echoes Apple’s recent push into lighter, breezier hues across Mac and iPad lines.

Standard iPhone 17 dummies come in black, white, blue, and a lilac tint that borders on pink. Earlier leaks pointed to steel gray and light blue options; their absence here suggests Apple is still finalizing the core lineup or segmenting colors by storage tier. Notably, the blues for the 17 and 17 Air are close but not identical, hinting at subtle brand separation.

Dummy models are built from CNC-milled plastic to guide case makers, so shade accuracy can fluctuate. Differences in material sheen, ambient lighting, and uncoated surfaces mean the retail devices often look richer. Still, the molds usually nail down camera placement and button geometry, lending credibility to the four-color patterns shown today.

Apple has loosely followed a four-finish template since the iPhone 12 generation, reserving muted metallics for Pro and playful pastels for non-Pro devices. An orange Pro would break that pattern, signalling either a limited-run hero color or a broader shift to help higher-priced models stand out in marketing.

The company is expected to lock its color decisions by early August as production ramps across Foxconn and Pegatron. With a mid-September keynote on the calendar, accessory makers will begin previewing MagSafe cases and watch bands in matching shades within weeks. If the copper-toned orange survives to mass production, it could headline Apple’s fall visuals much as Pacific Blue did for the iPhone 12 Pro.
